Not only was The Lion a wonderful location to explore the Cotswolds (and close to Stratford-upon-Avon) it was cute, quaint and so cozy. Mark (the owner) was incredibly nice and we loved our stay at his property. I can't say enough good things! He also helped us carry our luggage up the stairs. Rooms are small, but well decorated and comfortable. We had dinner at the pub and it was delicious!

The Old Kiln House, hotel in Shipston-on-Stour

Between the Cotswolds and Stratford-upon-Avon, The Old Kiln House offers luxury accommodations and high-quality breakfasts. Spacious and well-appointed rooms have free parking and WiFi access.

This delightful gem is tucked just off the main area of Shipston. We loved that it was centrally located, as it was a great home base to our Cotswold explorations. Bridget provided us with perfect recommendations, no matter which way we were headed. Our room and en suite was beautifully decorated and perfectly clean. We also loved the delicious breakfasts, with local meats and homemade bread and jams. Coming from the US, it can be hard to know where to stay—but I have no reservations about recommending the Old Kiln House.

    The hotel is shocking!

The hotel is shocking! Possibly the worst I've ever stayed in and I've camped! The bar area was probably the best part of the hotel room was very dated and in need of a very good clean the staff basically left us to it no interaction or anythin unless I approached them with an issue

Perfect location, right on the very edge of beautiful Shipston on Stour. Flat was lovely with 2 double bedrooms, comfortable lounge and kitchen. Everything you could need was right there and so close but no outside noise you could expect from such a great location. Naomi, the host, was lovely and couldn't have been more helpful. It was a fantastic long weekend and we will definitely stay here again.

Such a great place to stay - the house is gorgeous and so lovely. Loads of space and spotlessly clean. Perfect for family / friends getting together. Loved all the outdoor space too - especially for kids. Lots of places to explore and play in. The trampoline was a huge hit!! Lucy and Tom are amazing hosts as well! A fantastic place! Can't wait to hopefully go back again!!

Absolutely incredible accommodation in a beautiful and picturesque village. Completely equipped with everything I needed and a lot more. Roomy, comfortable, has all the amenities needed even for a long stay, sparkling clean, and directly adjacent to a country pub. It exceeded all my expectations. The host was so nice and I really enjoyed my brief conversations with her.

The beds are comfortable! The space is so well thought out. Everything you need is on site. There's room to roam outdoors for the kids. We really enjoyed the space as a family of five. Close to lots of great places to visit, but also a relaxing, quiet atmosphere. The hosts clearly know what a traveler needs -- everything is so well planned and executed.

Breakfast and dinner were good. Loved the room. Comfy bed. Great location. Staff were really helpful and friendly. The only thing was it was very noisy from the road noise. So didn’t get a great night sleep. I think one of the rooms at the back of the hotel would have been better

The rooms look exceptional with a fantastic shower and tea/ coffee facilities and the team members were really helpful and kind Pillows are a little soft for our preference and it could get loud outside but that is not the hotels fault so a really great stay.

I stayed in Yurt Yasmin, a wonderfully cosy little yurt on the far edge of the site. It was quiet and peaceful but I could easily drive around to do tourist things- in fact Shipston on Stour was half an hour away by bike.
