We stayed for two nights while visiting family. Our room on the ground floor was very comfortable, well appointed, with a spotless, modern bathroom. This was a pleasant surprise as we had requested a dog friendly room and these rooms can sometime be a bit basic. However there was even dog bed provided! The reception staff were friendly and helpful. On this occasion we were out for most of the day and therefore didn’t eat in the restaurant. We will definitely be staying here again when we next visit the family.

The reception staff (Cathy) was unhelpful and bordering on rude. The barman told my adult son that my husband and I were "stupid" as we didn't know the currency and had to ask if we had given the correct coins. There was no early check-in available and no secure place to put your luggage while you waited for your room. When we walked to our room we passed a lot of dirty dishes left on the stairs. The room was tired with chipped paint on the walls and cupboards. Breakfast was okay but don't expect all the hot food options available at one time. The water pressure was fantastic and the grounds were beautiful. The cab company recommended by the hotel was fantastic.BarbaraCanada - 10Scored 10

Sawbridgeworth is lovely, as I have lived there previously.
Sawbridgeworth is lovely, as I have lived there previously. Went to Bishops Stortford, dont go there! The Rising Sun is fantastic|!!!!! The Indian Resturant across the road is over priced and the service is extremly slow, stay away.

the rooms are untidy and dirty the beds in the new building are very uncomfortable and then in the old building the rooms are dirty and in disrepair. the staff are absolutely lovely cannot fault them, happy and friendly. I would not come back here sadly as the premisses where lacking and dirty

If you look at August review Helen they also had superior room that smelt like sewer so the hotel purely hadn’t corrected this in August we had just come back today 20th September when we complained today attach this to my previous review please of complaint wish had seen before booking would never have gone especially o suffer from Copd too

The owner had provided a welcome pack of milk, bread, cheese, butter, fruit, wine, etc. which was fantastic. There are some country walks from the cottage or into Sawbridgeworth. A perfect place to stay while visiting family in Bishop's Stortford. Would definitely stay here again.
