Stunning Stunning Stunning. If your looking for a cute, clean, and not over crowded perfect beach then look no more. The Portreath Arms, and The Atlantic Café & Bar close to the beach were amazing. You can walk up to the PepperPot on the cliff and there are benches up there to see the sea and cliffs. Its breath takingly beautiful. Is it quiet, Yes Is it worth a visit? Definitely. Dogs are also welcome on the beach before 10am and after 6pm. Not far from Portreath is Gwithan beach, if you take the scenic road from Portreath you follow the cliffs to Gwithian and theres multiple places to pull in and see the coastline. Also, we recommend calling at The Hell's Mouth Café to have some Cornish ice cream and pop over the road to see the views. Close by is Hayle, Porthtowan, St Ives and many more places for day trips. There's stunning walks or bike rides across the coast to. Portreath is the perfect base and destination in Cornwall. We cannot wait to go back!

Small yet perfectly formed Cornish Village.
Small yet perfectly formed Cornish Village. Not your quaint fisherman's village but compact with 2 good pubs, good food, nice bakery, beach front cafes that serve great breakfast and superb access to the coastal paths to St Ives and beyond. Obligatory chip shop albeit a very good one that has restaurant seats and is licensed. back is never more than 1 min away. People are warm and friendly,. We really enjoyed Portreath. If you want to chill with a little walking without trying too hard, this is your place.

The village is an eccentric place - there are rows of rather dull modern houses in the very middle of the village. I understood this when I was told they are on the site of the former Coal Yard - served by boats coming into the harbour. Such is history. In fifty years these houses will probably look very picturesque. Other parts of the village are much older.
The beach is stormy and exciting in December as a Cornish beach should be. The views from the steep hills on either side are spectacular.
The Portreath Arms is a complete delight.
I will return in Spring or Summer and look forward to more exploring.

Portreath was a busy cargo port importing coal from South Wales and exporting copper. In the second half of the 20th century the coal sheds were demolished to make way for affordable housing, and there is a proliferation of modern bungalows and flats up the hillsides. So it is not a 'pretty Cornish seaside village' but it has attractive coastline, an impressive granite block harbour, a nice beach, and some excellent and very friendly pubs and cafés.

Portreath is small so you can access most by walking.
Portreath is small so you can access most by walking. We liked the Bassett arms ate there 4 times. advisable to book. The Fish and Chips on the beach are good. There is local cstcutter with most things and a lovely bakery.
This place was a very pleasant surprise, Portreath still has that working village feel and the council have made there normal planning blunders, putting a completely out of character housing estate in the middle and the obligatory car park. The Portreath Arms is single handedly lifting the aspirations of this village by providing fantastic food, accommodation tied together with a real team atmosphere. We'll done and good luck.
Portreath itself. The property was very well presented and clean, and the joint-owner very decent when circumstnaceas meany we missed the first day and he let us stay an extra day, as nobody was coming to the flat.
They also left the makings of a Cornish cream tea and a bottle of wine, both of which were kind and apperciated.
Finally the cottage was very peaceful.
Ideal quiet part of Cornwall. The extra benefit of the covered heated pool plus hot tub. Excellent accommodation with great views. Plus a great pub at the end of the road. Fantastic beach with cafes. Very good bus service as car had a holiday as well. One of the best holidays we have had for a long time. Must go back again soon. Thank you to our hosts Pam and Richard
The shower was fantastic...and living room also great. On the whole the house was very well equipped with hoover, washing machine etc...was very comfortable for our stay. Really liked the location and Portreath is a lovely place and we would definitely look to come again.
Location was amazing, very cosy & comfortable cottage, it had everything we needed. Parking was a bonus, a few lovely cafes to choose from, fish & chips & bakery. We had a lovely relaxing few days. Hosts were very good with communication before, during & after our stay.
This was a nice surprise. Very nice place. The host went the extra mile to help us and make us comfortable. Good bed. Kitchen with all needs well met. Large bathroom. Private patio. Next to SW Coast path. The host pointed out the portreath arms pub...delicious.
The location was brilliant, with only a 5 minute walk to the beach, and the village facilities. The facilities at the accommodation were also first class. A lovely pool, hot tub, games room, with a nice garden with sun loungers. The hosts were fab too.
Pat met us on arrival to hand over the keys. It was great to arrive to milk, tea, coffee and snacks so we could relax after the long drive. House is in a great location to explore Southern Cornwall.
The chef was amazing and the food was incredible. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We loved that is was just a short walk to the Portreath Beach. Parking was easy and convenient.
Well located for exploring west Cornwall by car or on foot. Super views from the house across the beach with a range of places to eat in Portreath and nearby.
