Shanklin and Sandown are beautiful beaches but both towns are dying. Shops empty etc. Parking expensive and a nightmare to find which took a lot of the enjoyment out of the trip. Parking charged 24 hours 7 days a week.

The hotel is located in old Shanklin which is delightful.
The hotel is located in old Shanklin which is delightful. The main part of Shanklin is run down and not appealing. Despite this it has an excellent beach and would be a good place for a beach holiday with the right weather.

The beachfront and beach were lovely, accessible from the clifftop area via a lift suitable for everyone. Lots of places to sit and eat and drink. The far end of the beach past the Fisherman's cottage pub was dog friendly with a wide flat sandy area. Shanklin chine was lovely to walk through and explore as was the old village full of charming old shops and buildings. Shanklin town centre was within a short walk with a mix of shops some areas did look a little tired but we found virtually all places were dog friendly. The station was only a short walk from our hotel with a regular reliable service to Ryde. Using the Trainline app enabled us to get flexible day returns at reduced costs and we could hop on and off along the journey. Overall a very pleasant and well positioned place to stay, the hotel and staff were wonderful very welcoming and accommodating who made as much fuss of our dog as us.

Shanklin is a quaint place. Nice beach and quite long.
Shanklin is a quaint place. Nice beach and quite long. Shops could probably do with an upgrade but had a nice couple of pubs and excellent Italian restaurant, plus Indian and Chinese. High Street has a few coffee shops but also some empty shops like most places these days. You can get a lift down to the beach area or walk but it has quite a hill on the way up. Good walk to Sandown along the promenade. Local roads need a bit of work done to them but main roads ok. Lovely countryside and views of the sea. Couple of nice pub/restaurants in the Esplanade worth visiting.
The location of the hotel is great for Shanklin, it’s an easy downhill 10 minute walk to local restaurants and a further 5 minutes to the seafront. The hotel is also in a great location to reach the coastal path.
The staff are fantastic and do all they can to fulfill your requests and give you a great experience. The breakfast was lovely and you have so much choice. We only had dinner once in the hotel and my husband really enjoyed his pie!
What can I say about this wonderful property.
Beautiful building, quaint rooms, and fabulous garden.
Helpful and friendly staff.
Great breakfast.
Just a short walk through the properties terraced garden turn left to the beach and right to the old village. Such a good location.
When you get off the ferry get the train straight to Shanklin and bypass Ryde you wont be disappointed.
First class hotel. In a stunning location Haven Hall is a class destination with good facilities. Only breakfast ( very good) available at time of booking but plenty of restaurants in the area. Couldn’t fault the hotel at all.. David is a very attentive owner and great with suggestions for places to see on the island. If you are looking for class on the IoW then this is the place.
The food was excellent and locally sourced, hosts very welcoming and exactly what we would expect from such a highly rated hotel/BnB. Rosemary and David were fantastic throughout, the little touches are what makes places like these absolutely perfect for a few nights getaway (the Easter egg by the door when we got back to the room was lovely!)
Old Shanklin is a lovely part of the island. Bedford Lodge is very central but in a quiet, sheltered spot with a delightful garden. Our room was small, but comfortable, with a modern en suite. The breakfasts were delicious and varied, but most important the welcome was warm and the atmosphere very relaxed and informal.
Staff were warm, engaging and helpful, sea views and room fantastic, hotel a ‘beacon’ on the IoW for having a modern and functional EV 7kw car charger, great choice of food for breakfasts in the restaurant and the building itself has great space and style and is well maintained while keeping its period feel.
The caravan site was in walking distance to The Old Village in Shanklin and amenities.
We had a very helpful maintenance man on site who was able to sort out all our issues.
Harri the owner was on hand to sort out problems quickly but they shouldn’t have been there in the first place.
Short walk from Shanklin old village and sea front and on a bus route.
Room very comfortable especially the bed, great shower and nice breakfast.
Staff friendly and helpful.
Plenty of seating in the lobby to sit and plan the day ahead or do a crossword.
Wonderful cliff top location with a beautiful view for breakfast. Plenty of places to go in Shanklin, although the tearooms and the amusements were a particular favourite! Access to a swimming pool was very welcome during the nice weather.
Comfortable room. Quiet. Ideally located near Shanklin Old Village. Loved the little extras - bottled water in the room, dressing gowns, slippers and flannels. Excellent and friendly hosts. Best B&B we have stayed in.
I was asked what i liked and asked for something off menu and was served it with no fuss, the landlady is a real gem and the staff were very helpful.
Location was superb , walking distance to most things in shanklin.
I like level of clean room and shower. Very like quality of bed and linen, nice white towels. Thank you for this it is really important for me.
Location was amazing, quiet neighborhood, close to Shanklin beach.
We went to the festival and believe me this far outweighed the other option of camping at the site. We had lovely showers daily and slept like babies. We even went in the refreshing sea of Shanklin bay!
Great location for Shanklin Old Village and the beach. Friendly staff, comfortable room and lovely breakfast. A good touch with lots of Isle of Wight books to look at during your stay.
The location was excellent. Just a 5 minute walk down to Shankline Beach. The room we stayed at had an excellent view of the beach as well. Beautiful sunrise. Great value for money.
Excellent choices for breakfast and delicious . Property was well placed for all local areas - close to beach, shops, bars & restaurants, old village and chine.
Comfortable rooms , friendly and very helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Good location with bus stops nearby. Easy route to promenade and Shanklin old village.
Room was clean, Breakfast and Dinner prices were affordable and location of the hotel is perfect. Close to shanklin chine, the beach and old village as well
