A young enterprising Albanian lady has relatively recently and successfully started a new hotel in the centre of Shkodër. The small hotel is located right next to the large and visible Grand Hotel Europa. All rooms (and the reception) are on the first floor. Everything in the hotel is new. The rooms look very nice and are well maintained. This lady has made a good deal with a small restaurant across the street where hotel guests can go for breakfast. The day before you have to choose from several menus. The breakfast is ample and varied. The hotel is located a short distance from the street where the intercity buses stop. 100 metres to the west of the hotel is a mosque and 300 metres to the east another one. However, these did not disturb my sleep at night and I stayed in the room closest to the main street. The hotel is actually located at the beginning of Rruga Willson which is a smaller side street of the larger and busier Rruga Studenti but at night I didn’t experience any noise from that at either. My room at the front had very large windows, lots of light and of course air conditioning. It was one of the nicer rooms I had during my Albanian journey. Very spacious and comfortable. There was a fridge in the room. Also a very good bathroom. Behind the avenue where the buses stop you have the old town and the well-known street with the beautiful traditional buildings. Now, however, almost all of these have become a restaurant or a café. So many places to eat and drink are nearby. The famous old Mesi bridge is located outside Shkodër at about 7 kilometres. Easy to reach by taxi and it’s best to have him wait there. A visit to the beautiful historical bridge doesn’t take very long. The Rozafa castle is located on the other side of the city. About a half-hour walk from the hotel.
