Our overnight stay was exceptional! The attention to detail and top-notch service is clearly evident at his hotel – a typical old-world style – don’t expect modern –we enjoyed the yesteryear feeling with comfort and top notch service. The breakfast was a standout feature, offering freshly prepared Karoo boerewors, eggs cooked to perfection, and homemade bread (amongst others). Dinner was equally impressive, showcasing authentic Karoo fare. The bobotie was traditional, the lamb chops were tender and flavourful, and the steaks (looked delicious from others that ordered them). Portion sizes were generous, and every meal was served with a smile and a touch of love. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and thoughtfully appointed, making our stay relaxing and enjoyable. A special mention must go to Elsabe, the super host who made us feel truly at home. Her impeccable hospitality and willingness to go the extra mile added to our wonderful experience. The lovely pool was a delightful retreat—a perfect spot to cool off and unwind. We can't wait to return!

We arrived at night and Herman was so kind to wait for us to let us in. Besides that everything was very clean and comfy. The rooms were very nice and the hosts were always ready to help us. They also provided some water and a little snack. It was also very hygienic and the wifi was very good. Can recommend!

We had a fantastic two day stay. Loved the wood fire hot tub - did take hours to heat but it was awesome to use at night and staring up at the amazing stars. We loved walking around and patting and feeding the pet farm animals. The scenery from the deck was stunning. Highly recommend this place for a unique experience.

Everything at Quaggasfontein is immaculate! I can not recommend this accommodation high enough, we were welcomed for a late check in and the rooms are absolutely perfect. We were just driving through on our way back up to jhb, I'd recommend staying a day or 2 if you can.

History behind the town and the location is great. Makes the following day's travel short and gives you time to stop along the route at the other towns. Recommend travellers book Beaufort as part of their trip.

Prince Albert is a beautifully well kept and maintained small Karoo town at the foot of the Swartberg Pass. With many accommodation options, a number of really good restaurants and coffee shops, and art/curio shops, it is a wonderful place for a long weekend break, or an extended stay when passing through. We stayed at the Olive Thrush Cottage, just a short walk from the Main Street, and it was very peaceful and comfortable. We ate at the Rude Chef restaurant for dinner - very relaxed and with great food and a great vibe. The Swartberg Hotel is across the street is also excellent, with a groovy gin bar and very nice coffee shop. Walking around Prince Albert is the way to see the town properly, and visitors should include the short traverse up and along the Robert Gordon Koppie ridge walk which give amazing views of the surrounding mountains and of the town. It's an easy and short climb with a well marked path - highly recommended. When heading south from Prince Albert, we recommend taking the Swartberg Pass for the views - it is gravel and a bit steep in places with tight hairpin bends, but can be taken in a normal car - no need for 4x4.

It was lovely to be part of an awesome and rich history and to explore the museum, transport museum and the whole little town - so very interesting and one can walk through the whole town within an hour! The Hotel and pub were outstanding with their meals. It was great to go on the world's shortest tour on the red bus. It is full of such an interesting history and everything makes one feel that one is back in the 1800's but at the same time it is a peaceful town where one could truly "rest"! Unfortunately we didn't see/hear any ghosts and we were not able to see inside the Courthouse, Pink Chapel, Logan's Tweedside Lodge and Schreiber's cottage! We also couldn't find the cemetry.

Uniondale was the centre point of our journey distance wise - so convenient . Also we had not been there before so it made an interesting stop over. Scenery was stunning and the road excellent. Hotel built in 1832 (I understand). Uniondale is about 14 kms off main road and entry and exit are through two mountain passes which were most attractive.

A quaint and quirky little town in the Karoo, famed for its terrible flash flood in 1981, which killed 104 residents, and all but wiped out the town. We tried to visit the Flood Museum but it turned out to be closed on Friday afternoons, which was exactly when we went to visit it. The Grand Hotel was wonderful! We had the best pizzas ever there on Friday evening (pizza night!) and it was such a friendly place. We were in Laingsburg for the Laingsburg Karoo Maratohn, a delightful low key running event thought the truly spectacular stunningly beautuful scenery of the Karoo. We loved it!

Travalia is a little oasis in the Greater Karoo, just when your trip is too long this little jewel appears on your horizon. Apartment was clean and had all the facilities you need. If you don't want to braai under your nice veranda, you can make a booking at the restaurant. Or, if you want to braai under the Karoo milky way, you can order in advance a good braai pack, salad and "braaibroodjies". For breakfast you can make use of the Travalia Padstal where you can enjoy a traditional breakfast or a variety of pies. The shop stocks also Karoo lamb packs as well as many treats and gifts.

Merweville is a beautiful town! Friendly community.

Merweville is a beautiful town! Friendly community. The town is very clean and neat. The best coffee and breakfast at Die Boekklub with a shop to buy presents for family at home. There is a nougat factory as well - Karoo Blessings, unfortunately they were closed when we passed through, but we could find their yummy treats at "Die Boekklub" in town. The Graveyard is well looked after, we visited a family grave and we were very impressed! Everywhere you drive, people will greet you with a friendly smile! It gives you a warm feeling of caring! Loved the town.

Wonderful location, beautiful renovation of old house.

Wonderful location, beautiful renovation of old house. Extremely well equipped kitchen and wonderful braai area. Be aware that the kitchen and braai patio are communal. There is only a kettle and microwave in the bedroom. The rooms are upstairs, all luggage must be carried up. Rooms are spartan except for very comfortable bed - no wardrobe, tables, chest of drawers. Shower is modern, spacious but not hot water. Beautiful walks on farm, peaceful and extremely restful. Fan in bedroom, insect repellent, but no heating facilities.

I have stayed in Prince Albert about 4 times now and the accomodation is not up to the standard of the photo's of the venue's. I am thinking that Prince Albert is becoming overrated and accommodation (for what you get is becoming exhorbitant).
