The square in Palmy is great. Have a good explore around.
The square in Palmy is great. Have a good explore around. If you can, go to a show at the Regent on Broadway. It is a beautiful theatre. Popeyes is now open on the way out of town, it is delicious. EB games is in one of the malls and well worth checking out if thats your sort of thingGuest review byAllanNew Zealand - 8.0

A bit off the normal tourist track - but well worth the stop over. Great coffee and toasties at Franks restaurant. Lovely Main Street to look at the shops. A large variety of antique shops. The river is very nice to walk along as well.Guest review bysharnaAustralia - 10

Really lovely township to stay out for visits to Mount Ruapehu - great selection of food venues (both takeaway like La Pizzeria or dine in like Cypress Tree). Carrot Land adventure park is a great visit for little kids.Guest review byMarieNew Zealand - 8.0

Friendly, with lots of eating places, so varied food available. Lots of play areas for kids. At Cobb & Co, I booked a group booking for 25 guests on Sunday afternoon and was very pleased with everything there. The food was good as well as the friendly staff.Guest review byPhilipNew Zealand - 10
My connections with Taumarunui are mostly through the Tiger...
My connections with Taumarunui are mostly through the Tiger Moth Club which was formed there in 1969 and returns every October to the best grass aerodrome in New Zealand. We always get a great welcome from the townspeople - and the weather is (usually) ideal for open-cockpit vintage biplanes.Guest review byJohnNew Zealand - 8.0
We were there because of the annual automotive swap meet.
We were there because of the annual automotive swap meet. We have family living there. The town is pretty, easy to get around. We were recommended Aunty Jo Jo for fish and chips; very fresh and delicious.Guest review byLyndaNew Zealand - 2.0
Unfortunately the unit we stayed in was infested with ants...
Unfortunately the unit we stayed in was infested with ants which were in the bathroom, kitchen and bedroom. We awoke to find them in our beds and crawling all over us. Most unpleasant experience. I advised the manager but he didn't really apologise and I believe he was aware of the situation. His response was that he would need to get a pest controller in. I felt he didn't believe us, but we showed the cleaners and they were shockewd.Guest review byDionNew Zealand - 10

My baby and I stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed everything about Waiouru. We were at the Oasis motel which is across the road from the Z gas station and next to a Diner, bakery, bar & bottle store which breaks off from the motel but still far away from the rooms. A bit secluded but love how everything’s so close and the nice cold weather.Guest review byShaniquaNew Zealand - 4.0
The empty Chateau is a shame but we hope that will be sorted...
The empty Chateau is a shame but we hope that will be sorted soon. The neglected buildings in the village on both sides of Bruce Road is not a good look. Hopefully they will be restored and have tenants soon. We understand Covid and the uncertainly around the sale of the ski field had a big influence but we hope that it would be fixed soonGuest review byTredouxMNew Zealand
