Private rooms also have fan, and A/C for an extra cost. - 3 shared bathrooms, regularly cleaned (multiple times a day). No hot water, but the cold water isn't freezing cold. - Same desayuno every morning, but two differents options (eggs with gallo pinto or pancakes). - Kitchen well furnished. Old pans and pots, but still doing the job. - Good Wi-fi in the main common area, weak in the back part of the hostel (but I think there's an other Wi-fi network for there). - Location right between the city center and the bus terminal (10-15 minutes of walk going to either of). - Laundry service available. The hotel staff arranged my airport pick up, which was a fair price. The receptionist (Angelika?) was very welcoming and helpful throughout my stay. The whole hotel has a lovely colonial / vintage feel. There was some really beautiful artwork throughout, some of which was painted by the owners mum. It had a lovely charming feel. I didn’t use the small pool, but this is definitely a bonus for the high temperatures in Leon. My room was lovely and comfortable. Everywhere was spotless. Breakfast was included and was also excellent. The location was perfect for exploring Leon and felt very safe. Common areas are super comfortable, overlooking the beach, and encourages chatting with the other guests but there's also areas to chill in a hammock, do yoga, or watch the surf and beach action. The young staff are very lively and welcoming. Our beginner surf lesson was awesome. A/C in the room worked very well and the sleep was quiet (except during the day when neighbours play music). Leon is a pretty and interesting city.
Leon is a pretty and interesting city. We enjoyed a walking tour and the art museum was absolutely fantastic. We also really enjoyed doing a few trips from here - to the beach/mangroves at Las Penatas, and a volcano hike. Las Penitas is only 2 hours from Managua and 20 mins from lovely Leon. It’s totally relaxing, with some great places to eat for every budget, surf schools and mangroves to explore. The fishermen bringing their boats in up the river are a great sight to see at high tide. Food was great, Tony was an amazing server and took care of us like we were family. On the down side, hotel needs a lot of improvement. Bathrooms are very duty, the lobby for some reason smelled like pee, and the cushions on the dining area were very duty too.Guest review byannette_0812Nicaragua
