Tangier is not a city but a chemical substance. A powder you inhale, hoping the walls will dissolve and reveal the skeleton of the world. What you’re looking for here is not exoticism but something closer to permission. Permission to stop being yourself. The intoxication is in the very air of the Medina, thick as syrup. It works slowly: first you notice that the shadows have become denser than the objects casting them. Then you realize the merchants’ voices aren’t coming from outside but are sounding right inside your skull. And then comes silence. Not the absence of sound, but its complete opposite — the resonant presence of every conversation ever carried within these walls. You think you came to observe? No. You’ve become an ingredient. The city slowly digests your will, your familiar categories, your hurry. And it leaves only one thing — an animal curiosity for the next turn of the street, behind which there may be anything. Chefchaouen is an amazing historic city.
Chefchaouen is an amazing historic city. So much to see and do. Spend the morning on a hike and come back for the market and a tagine. I would like to have had a beer but I survived, lol. Our guide Abdul was a beautiful human being. He enriched our trip so much. His deep explanation of Ramadan was an inspiration. The solidarity with all people and the egalitarian aspects were something that I had not formerly considered. It is a bonding with all of humanity. Very hilly but taxis very cheap. Not a place for those who have walking problems. The day starts slowly and quiet until about 1pm when streets become very busy and a bit claustrophobic. A trip to the Beach at Martil definitely worth it. If you can take public transport/shared taxis to sights as it is so inexpensive. A 1 hour plus trip in a luxury coach to the Blue City cost just over 5 euros for two adults (seniors). The medina was really nice to wander through and we liked the fact that it went right down to the ocean. The murals on the walls made it unique and it was nice to discover new ones. Martil has a beautiful beach with golden sand and it is a great option to spend summer vacation, safe, people are friendly, and there is so much to do nearby like vising Cabo negro, Tres Peidras, Jebha, Chefchaouen, Tangier and other great places in northern Morocco. I already went to the hotel with my colleagues for a conference, and I liked the venue so much that I wanted to take my kids there, too. The place is large and very welcoming. The view of the pool, gardens and sea is really breathtaking. The rooms are large and comfortable. The included breakfast is really good and the service is excellent. There are two little things I did not expect, which disturbed me a little but would not change my positive opinion of the place. First, during the check-in, I was asked to add a further amount than what was proposed on my booking, as a deposit for any extra service I may ask for. Because I wasn't ready for that, I didn't have the full amount on me, so that was a bit awkward and uncomfortable for me. I had to sit in the lounge and figure out a way to have the missing amount transferred to my bank account. On the check-out, I was told that they'd return the deposit amount to my account, which hasn't happened yet, so I'll have to wait and see. I would have appreciated knowing about this procedure here on booking.com to avoid the unpleasant surprise on the spot. The second thing was a small leak in the toilet. I would have appreciated some sort of a mop or cleaning towel ready and available in the bathroom, meanwhile the leak gets fixed, so that I would manage the leak before it built up and avoid having to ask or wait for the hotel cleaner to show up. Having said this, I'm still very happy with my stay at the hotel, rank it 10, would definitely go back there and recommend it to my relatives and friends. Thank you!Guest review byMouniaMorocco - 2.0
