FAQs about hotels in Cinque Terre
Cliff-Hugging Beauty
One of Liguria’s most beautiful areas, the Cinque Terre are 5 UNESCO World Heritage-listed villages dramatically positioned on the Mediterranean coastline.
Each has a train station, but the most exhilarating way to visit the Cinque Terre is on foot. It’s not easy at times, but is definitely rewarding. The route starts (or finishes) at Riomaggiore, the southern-most village, home to a range of accommodation including a few Cinque Terre hotels on the beach.
The easy road between here and Manarola is called the Via dell’Amore, or Lovers’ Lane. Colourful Manarola houses hug the rocky cliffs overlooking the turquoise water below. The next village along is Corniglia, the only one not by the beach, but which offers panoramic views from its hilltop position.
Next is Vernazza, arguably the most picturesque of the 5, spread over a narrow promontory jutting into the sea and with a castle tower at its tip. Still very much a fishing village, it is centred around its small harbour and beach.
The longest beach is at Monterosso al Mare, the last town on the trail. Due to its location and easy access, it is home to what are possibly the best Cinque Terre hotels for families on Booking.com. However, whichever village you choose to stay in, you can expect wonderful views and fantastic food.

- From US$555.56 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 364 reviewsI stayed at Hotel Porto Venere and the experience was simply perfect. The location is unbeatable, with a breathtaking view of the sea and the harbor. The property is beautifully maintained, elegant, and welcoming. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable, with all the amenities needed for a relaxing stay. The staff were extremely kind, professional, and always helpful their warm hospitality truly made a difference. The breakfast was rich, varied, and of excellent quality, served on a terrace with a postcard-perfect view. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to enjoy a truly charming experience in Porto Venere. I would return without hesitation!Guest review byRoccoItaly
- From US$129.15 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 378 reviewsI liked everything! The location, the beach, the bungalow has an awesome view. The staff is very helpful and attentive to one needs. They also are nice and very energetic. You can also access the premises by a 20 Minutes walk along the beach to go to the city for a drink or for a “Gelato”but please do not walk the tunel, it is only for cars. They also rent “Vespas” Kayaks and SUPs so if you like adventure this is the right place for you. They also have a restaurant and a small store if you don’t want to leave the complex. Book in advance since everyone love this place!Guest review byUlrichGermany

The staff is very attentive, the pool is large and well-maintained, and the dinners along with the drink menu are truly impressive. There’s no need to look for restaurants nearby — just book a table in advance, and you’re guaranteed a top-level experience. Rooms facing the marina and the port offer a stunning view, and the street itself is quiet and peaceful.Guest review byDezhurnijLatvia
- From US$170.40 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 611 reviewsI liked everything basically. Hotel is quite cheap for the quality it proposes. Personal is very welcoming and willing to help. Rooms are huge, beds are very comfortable, there's plenty of choice for breakfast, real hair-dryers in the bathroom... Hotel is located in the lovely village of Levanto, close to the beach, shop and restaurants. Very easy to join the Cinque Terre from here as the train station is 5 minutes away by feet from the hotelGuest review byAxelEgypt
- From US$183.15 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 94 reviewsRoberta and his team were super helpful and flexible. The outdoor area was a blessing, a great place to sit and read a book. The location was sensational with a 3-minute walk to the smaller free beach, which I loved. There are plenty of little restaurants to eat at again, a 3 minute walk away. A very secure place with walking distance to everything and yet quiet in the evening. I loved it so much I was lucky enough to extend by 1 night.Guest review byLauraAustralia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.0Very good - What previous guests thought, 249 reviewsThe breakfast was amaizing, the staff even did our laundry for free and gave us ice cream from the bar/shop. Staff was really nice and extra accomodating. Hard to get to from the train station on foot if you miss the bus. Runs rarely, so we’d sometimes have to walk back up the mountain for an hour to get to the hotel but the scenery was beautiful so we didnt mind.Guest review byViktorijaFinland

Great location to explore Cinque Terre area by train (with free shuttle bus to the nearby train station - 5-10mins away). Helpful and friendly staff. Good breakfast. Better to go there in the hotter months because it could be cold during the night in the 'tents'.Guest review byStanAustria

Travelling from Rome, we made La Spezia our base to launch into the Cinque Terre. Fiume269 was just 10-min walk away from the main train station to travel to the 5 towns. Buses from near our stay take you easily to La Spezia's main attractions.Guest review byRobin GomesItaly - 8.0

Secluded private garden location just minutes from the beach and the Gigante statue in the new town, nestled under old growth trees in a light filled greenhouse glass addition to an historical building. Sun Light yet private. Equipped with dishwasher and washer/dryer(a bonus for travelers) and the lack of towels. Bring extra charging stations. Outlets are sparing in each room. Non the less, this one is a find. I'd return.Guest review byamandaUnited States - 10.0
Levanto is the next town north of Cinque Terre.
Levanto is the next town north of Cinque Terre. The train that runs between the five towns, actually starts in Levanto so you can easily visit all the towns, and the trains also run to La Spezia where you can connect to many other parts of Italy. There are many restaurants, a fairly large beach, and you have many choices for hikes, walks, or rent a bike and ride through the tunnels. We were very glad we choose Levanto as the Cinque Terre towns were fairly crowded.Guest review byLesli BowersCanada - 10.0
Riomaggiore is a vibrant town.
Riomaggiore is a vibrant town. Loved being outside at night with the restaurant sounds and bars playing music. It felt safe to walk around on my own. Enjoyed the harbor view and proximity to boat rental and tours. Beach was nice and small and not too crowded. Ferry is right there, too. Highly recommend staying in Riomaggiore.Guest review bySusan CleereUnited States - 10.0

Picturesque, relatively small and quiet compared to the other cinque Terre towns. Centrally located so I could begin day walks in both directions. Best not to carry heavy luggage up the hill from the train station (around 380 steps) - use the bus… only 1,50 Euros but expect to wait 15-30 mins at peak time. The walks to Vernazza and on to Monterosso, and also the walk to Manarola are magnificent, just be prepared for lots of steps.Guest review byJohnAustralia - 10.0
