It is stunningly beautiful, we visited at the end of September expecting it to be less busy however there were literally thousands of cruise ship passengers doing tours all day. I think if I were to return it would have to be very early in the season or maybe even November!! We ate at a recommended restaurant just outside the Pile Gate called Dubravka, the food & service were very good & the price reasonable & the view was lovely. Cavtat was a relatively quiet little town with beautiful views across the bay and a good range of restaurants, most reasonably priced. A good base for seeing Dubrovnik, with its spectacular medieval old town and city walls next to the sea, along with a few other islands. We used Mlini for a night before flying out of Dubrovnik Airport. We started our Croatia holiday in Split, then did a Bike and Boat through the islands, ending up in Dubrovnik. Seeing how far Dubrovnik is from the airport, I sought closer accommodations, and it was a quick 10 minutes in the early morning when our driver picked us up at 5:40 a.m. After being there, for one day, I wish I could have spent several days there just relaxing!Guest review byBarbaraUnited States
