FAQs about hotels on Andros
A Perfect Combination of Culture and Fun
A favoured weekend destination, the island of Andros is only an hour and a half away from Athens. Named after Andros, a hero descending from the line of God Apollo, this beautiful island features traditional villages, golden beaches, high mountains, small rivers and green valleys.
Featuring great nautical tradition and home to famous Greek sailors, Andros is not similar with any other island in the Cyclades. This small paradise is a great cultural destination thanks to its many museums and their unique collections of paintings, sculptures and archaeological exhibits.
The lovely Chora is the capital of Andros and one of the most popular villages of the island. Wander around the narrow alleys, admire the Neoclassical and Venetian-style houses, and admire the beautiful stone bridge.
Rich in history, the island has several towers including the tower of Ayios Petros and Fryktoria. Built by Venetians, the Pano Kastro was the largest city in Andros during the Middle Ages.
Built over a gorgeous natural harbour, the resort of Batsi has a sandy beach, shallow waters and nice taverns serving local specialties. Booking.com has a great selection of hotels, apartments and guest houses in the magnificent Batsi.

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 21 reviewsLovely, peaceful place, just outside of the hustle and bustle of Chora. Make sure you have a car. We had a family suite, which was spacious and exactly as pictured. We had a small balcony facing the pool and a private patio with a small garden. And of course a Greek vacation cat, which loved petting but would also be happy just lying in the corner. We saw lots of little lizards and even a small gecko one night. In the kitchen a small fridge with a small freezer space and a water kettle. Basic kitchen amenities and enough to get by. We had two drying racks on the patio. Shampoo and shower gel provided, as well as toothbrush. Beds a tad hard but ok. Cleaning comes by every day and is very thorough. Pool is great, good to cool down and the pool beds are out of this world. So comfortable. Breakfast was great, lot’s of variety and a nice view. Owners are very kind and welcoming. We felt at home at the property and very well cared for. Recommended for anyone, family or couple. We would absolutely return.Guest review byPaulinaNetherlands
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 253 reviewsWe had a wonderful stay at Micra Anglia, and can highly recommend this hotel for anyone who looks for a calm and beautiful hotel with excellent service and high quality. We were there for one week, but would have loved to stay longer. The hotel is beautiful, when it comes to the building and the rooms, and it was beautifully decorated with flowers and small details that show that the staff cares about giving the guests a good experience. The staff (all of them) is friendly, polite and professional. We loved our room, it was spacious, had nice furniture, a good coffee machine and it had in general good comfort. One of the highlights of the hotel is the breakfast, which we enjoyed every day. The food was home made with good variety, and much of the food was local. Every morning we got served freshly made orange juice, and good coffee and water by the table. The breakfast room was, as the rest of the hotel, also very nicely decorated. We enjoyed our stay very much, and can warmly recommend it.Guest review byKristinNorway
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 526 reviewsWe had an amazing time at Mare Vista. We stayed for three weeks and it was absolutely perfect. The bedroom was very spacious and the bed very comfortable. The view from our balcony was breathtaking. There was plenty of water in the bathroom which might be rare on an island (last year we stayed in an other hotel and they would often run out of water). The room is cleaned and fresh towels are provided everyday. The location is great, right above Batsì, one of the main centers of the island. At breakfast there was a wide variety of choice and all food was delicious. All the staff was amazing. A special mention for Sophia who works at the reception. She’s a very kind and friendly woman whom now we can call a friend. She has a lovely dog, Leonidas, we would have taken him back home with us but he loves his mama too much and so does she 🤣 We’ll always cherish the wonderful moments we had at Mare Vista. Eukaristó, everybody!Guest review bySoter02Italy
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 252 reviewsEverything was perfect. The resort was very special, with great "green" architecture, that grows in harmony with the surrounding nature. Lots of traditional stone structures, olive trees and aromatic bushes around the gardens. A natural amphitheater with large infinity pool and the best beach of the island (Zorkos) at your feet. The location is magical, perfect sunrises, isolation in independent villas of the resort, but also a warm and friendly atmosphere between strangers guests during breakfast or dinners. The friendly owners and staff of the resort, helps for serenity and good mood from everybody. Everything was made easy for us and we got a lot of help and suggestions for our visits around the island. Delicious food from the restaurant. We will definitely come again!!Guest review byMichael PapaioannouGreece
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 342 reviewsBeautiful art deco hotel with newly and tastefully furnished/decorated rooms in white. Nice balcony with furniture. There is plenty of hot water and toiletries in the bathroom, a fridge and kettle with cups, saucers and wine glasses. Exceptional pool area with an abundance of sunbeds, uv parasols, grass, and dappled shade under the trees. Huge pool. There is almost certainly a serviced bar in the pool area in high season, but it was very quiet in the hotel in early June. 10-15 minute walk into the main part of Chora for bars and restaurants and it's a €45-50 taxi from Gavrio port. Very friendly and helpful receptionist who booked restaurant and taxi for us as well as giving good recommendations during our stay.Guest review byJoannaUnited Kingdom
- From US$102.05 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 311 reviewsWe got a room with a sea view which really exceeded our expectations, we literally never wanted to leave the terrace. During the day you see the see the sea and at night there was a beautiful moon and many stars. We literally woke up with the sound of the waves. The old town was less then 5 minutes away where most of the restaurants and shops were. The owner was super nice and very friendly. He gave us a map of where everything is and he gave recommendations on what is a must see and what we should avoid. We asked him if we can use the hose from the garden to clean up our car but while we were in our room he cleaned the car on his own. I truly recommend this place.Guest review byMilaNorth Macedonia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 133 reviewsGreat apartment very close to a beach and the lovely centre of Batsi. Plenty of shops, restaurants, tavernas within easy walk. Batsi is a convenient location from which to explore the rest of the island particularly if you have a car. Trips to Andros town, villages and many beaches are easily achieved from this location. The hosts are super friendly and very welcoming. We were made to feel like friends coming back to a familiar resort. The resort is away from the main road making it very quiet of an evening.Guest review byGregoryAustralia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 222 reviewsThe staff, the room and the location. We had a problem with our room the first day, but Alkis and his colleagues solved the problem perfectly. We had the best room of the hotel, with a great veranda and a magnificant view. All the staff, including those on the beach, are very friendly, cheerful and service orientated and want to give you the best holiday. Breakfast was great as well, with Orpheus as a very sympathetic coffeemaker.Guest review byAusNetherlands
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 192 reviewsSuch lovely hosts, Nicholas picked us up from the ferry (taxi is 15 euro) and gave us a lot of good tips about the island and Batsi. He also arranged a rental car for us. Andros is beautiful in the spring, very green, lots of flowers, great to explore with a car. Batsi is a lovely village with a couple of good restaurants like Stamatis and Oti Kalo. We had a great time. Thanks so much, dear Nico & family!Guest review byCarlijnNetherlands

We spent all our time at Kaliva Beach Lounge. Miss Irene was warm and welcoming and provided a great breakfast every morning. Each day was something new- a special bread or a different egg dish. They really do make an effort for a nice start to the day.Guest review byJamesGreece

We lived near Batsi for 31 years.
We lived near Batsi for 31 years. It is a lovely little village with some very good tavernas and cafes, although there are now far too many cocktail bars. Andros island is lovely with excellent beaches and hiking trails but avoid August when the island almost sinks under the weight of thousands of visitors, mainly from Athens. Generally speaking, the island has managed to remain unspoilt by excessive tourism. The local people are very friendly and welcoming.Guest review byGrahamGreece - 10.0
Great hiking island!
Great hiking island! From Chora- Andros some fantastic hiking routes starts. The hiking routes are very well maintained. Baches are near by for swimming. Sunset and sundown are spectaluar. You will get superfit as there are stairs, stairs stairs in each town and also on some of the hiking pathsGuest review byPetraGermany - 6.0

We were there in May so not quite season. It’s very small but served as a good base to visit the island. Some good tavernas. Bit nothing else to do there. Not a beach nearby that is nice for swimming or tanning so would probably recommend Batsi over Gavrio.Guest review byChristineNamibia - 10.0

This is an ideal place if you don't like to be in the capital city with a lot of noise and traffic. You are far enough from the street and have your own peace and quiet, and at the same time you are very close to the city where there is entertainment and an active nightlife. Everything you need is in the area, restaurants, shops, beaches etcGuest review byMiroslav PetrovicSerbia - 10.0

This is an amazing natural beach, some parts are sandy and others with small white pebbles. Not a lot of people around on the time of my visit (June). The surrounding landscape is beautiful. There is a small tavern above the beach.Guest review byMichael PapaioannouGreece - 10.0

Ano Aprovato presents an optimal setting for hiking...
Ano Aprovato presents an optimal setting for hiking enthusiasts. Beginners can embark on a picturesque route stretching from the western region to the heart of Andros, connecting with the semi-mountainous village of Ano Aprovato. This path predominantly traces the historic trail traversing the western and southern slopes of Mount Petalo. It maintains a relatively level trajectory, offering captivating vistas spanning from the mountain's coastal edge to the island's interior. Spectacular panoramas unfold, encompassing views of the sea, the valley of Megalos Potamos River, and the coastal town of Chora with its twin bays. For more seasoned hikers seeking a challenge, there's a 10.9km point-to-point trail near Ano Aprovato. This route, deemed moderately demanding, typically requires around 3 hours and 15 minutes to complete. Ideal for both hiking and running, this trail promises solitude amidst nature's embrace, with encounters with fellow explorers being rare. Accessible year-round, it boasts timeless beauty, beckoning adventurers at any season.Guest review byDimitrisGreece - 10.0
Batsi is a lovely little town in Andros.
Batsi is a lovely little town in Andros. Beach was right across the road and one of our favorite places to have dinner was right downstairs called Mastello. There are 2 bakery shops and the bread smells amazing. There are lots of different restaurants, so you could try a different one every night. The Ktel bus service is pretty good and on time from Gavrio the port. You could visit Chora the capital of Andros, which is about 30mins by bus. It has lots of shops and tavern for coffee, pita yeeros and of course some greek ouzo with ice.Guest review byMariaAustralia - 4.0
Not a hospitable island!
Not a hospitable island! Third class and expensive facilities. Most of the locals are rude and it seems that they do not like visitors! If you want to visit Greece there are at least 100 beautiful islands and places to visit . This was the worst experience that I had in Greece and I feel ashamed that these guys claim to be Greeks Greeks are very friendly people ! Most of the islands even if they are small offer very good facilities! Do not waste your money and time in Andros . Concluding I would like to mention that I was very Impressed by the “Skalakia “ restaurant in chora! Excellent food and service. Mrs Maria was extremely friendly and professional. Make sure you reserve a table ahead of time.Guest review byHelenUnited States - 8.0

This destination is delightful, offering a wide array of culinary options. The local cheeses are exceptional, and you'll discover restaurants that cater to both casual diners and those seeking a more upscale experience. The ambiance is tranquil, making it an ideal retreat. Renting a car is advisable to fully explore the island’s beauty. While September may be slightly cooler, it also offers a more serene atmosphere.Guest review byMelissaIreland
