This is a lovely and picturesque town in the incomparably lovely Yorkshire dales. There is a lovely market square with nice shops and restaurants, a fabulous Georgean theatre, a terrific castle to explore, and a nearby ruined abby that is an easy walk from the centre of town. (Every town needs a ruined abbey, right?)Guest review byBeverleeCanada - 10.0
Settle is a lovely little town.
Settle is a lovely little town. We were there in the rain, but could still enjoy what it has to offer. The musuem is free to visit and a good way to learn a little of the history. Nice Chinese take-away thats good value too. Scenery nearby is stunning- would definitely recommend taking the train to Carlisle, across the Ribblehead viaduct. (Road route of settle to hawes is beautiful too, even in a downpour) We would definitely like to return to the area. A weekend visit was too short!Guest review byAngelaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
We visited for the 1940's weekend in September.
We visited for the 1940's weekend in September. The huge amount of effort invested by the events volunteers is greatly appreciated. This year it was made harder for them by the inclement weather on day one. However, this did not dampen the visitors enthusiasm and by day two the sun was shining. Can highly recommend the hospitality - especially the tapas bar and pop up coffee shop in the church rooms. Book early for next year - you won't be disappointed :)Guest review byHardyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The village was quaint .
The village was quaint . The waterfall trail was amazing ,a must if you stay here or are just visiting for the day . The locals were so friendly and helpful . I wanted to do white scar caves but I read you had to bend down and squeeze through in places which I didn’t feel comfortable doing unfortunately. Countryside was stunning so many villages to discover in the area .Guest review byTonyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

It has most of what you would expect from a traditional Yorkshire Dales village and more, with a good mix of old and new. A very traditional inn, down to earth, with a good mix of locals and visitors, sits next to a recently refurbished one, apparently aiming for the higher spending tourists. A central area offers cobbled parking in front of inns and shops. There is still a village green, (with actual local children playing), a post office, a general store and a mix of other outlets for arts/crafts, gifts, ice-cream etc. Very easy access to both the gentler riverside aspects and the wilder moorlands of the area.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Fabulous place to visit.
Fabulous place to visit. Lots of walking options including easy and accessible as well as longer and more challenging day hikes. Some evening good options including the village with others a short drive or longer walk away.Guest review byChristineUnited Kingdom - 8.0

On our first stay in 2019 we did a lot of walking and looking at incredible waterfalls. On our second stay in 2025 it was raining most of the time as a storm came through, but it didn't stop us getting out for two days of visiting Bolton Castle with an excellent tour, Grassington (where All Creatures Great and Small was staged) and a very interesting small historical museum, Wensleydale and of course, lunch and cheeses at Wensleydale Creamery Cafe!Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

The kitchen and living room are at the top of the cottage which give access to fantastic views. The bedrooms are small, but adequate. Beds are comfortable. The price is reasonable. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Parking is available.Guest review byHippogirlyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Caw Cottage is simply wonderful.
Caw Cottage is simply wonderful. It has everything you will need for a relaxing stay in the Yorkshire Dales. Perfectly placed to explore this beautiful area and with Sedbergh just a few miles down the road with a number of good pubs/restaurants, everything is within easy reach. Caw Cottage is very well maintained and spotlessly clean. The bed is super comfortable too. The hosts are nearby, very friendly and helpful, but very respectful of your privacy. Caw Cottage is a gem of a place. Well worth the visit.Guest review byJulieUnited Kingdom
