Auray is a pretty little town and it has a wonderful market on Mondays. One of the best French markets we have been to. There is plenty to explore in the Morbihan (we used the trains a lot as well as our car) We recommend two sights in particular: 1. the megalith stones at Carnac 2. Going inside the submarine at L'OrientGuest review byDeirdreUnited Kingdom - 6.0
We did not like this town.
We did not like this town. The property is in the centre of town and we did not feel safe there. It was very down at heel in the centre although we walked out further to a a supermarket and the suburbs looked and felt fine.Guest review byRichfirsUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Le Palais is the main town in Belle Ile, which is well named as it is beautiful. It has restaurants, creperies and interesting shops as well as tourist ones. Many people sail here and moor for a night or several. There is a fine 17th century citadel overlooking the town and a little harbour with lots of watch.Guest review byLeeUnited Kingdom - 6.0

The countryside around Larmor Plage is beautiful though Lorient is not the most attractive place. Port Louis is well worth the trip especially if you take the BateauBus which is a steal at Euro 1.30 each way.Guest review byaliciaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Pontivy is a pleasant town, ideally located for a stopover if you are travelling along the Nantes Brest Canal. The architecture is very charming, a mix of Napoleonic and medieval buildings. The central area is pedestrian friendly and has everything you need in terms of shopping. The castle was closed while we were there.Guest review byMARCUnited Kingdom - 10.0
We loved Vannes.
We loved Vannes. The old town is so interesting with its medieval buildings and hidden streets and squares. It is so close to the port with its waterside activities. We visited the Cathedral and the Musee de Beaux Arts, Despite ongoing renovations at the Cathedral we still found lots to look at. The ramparts and gardens are also well worth a look. There were plenty of places to eat. The day we visited the old town it poured with rain so we had wonderful moules frites opposite the cathedral. We could have stayed a lot longer in Vannes and look forward to going back.Guest review byJillUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Quiberon is a quaint little shoreside village in Bretagne.
Quiberon is a quaint little shoreside village in Bretagne. There are beautiful beaches for swimming, for surfing, or for just sitting and looking out to the islands in the Atlantic. There are so many things to do if Quiberon is your base. Firstly, Carnac to see the Menhirs, Megaliths and Tumuli. If you do not have a car, this is a short, cheap bus ride from Quiberon. When you arrive you can pay for a guided tour or you can walk the trails and explore on your own. Then there is Belle-Ile-en-Mer. A 50 minute ferry ride takes you to the lovely island where you can wander around Le Palais or you can hire a bicycle and ride around the island. Of course, you could also take a few days to complete the Grand Randonnee. We stayed on Belle-Ile, however, many pass the day enjoying the island life. If you love sailing, surfing or other water sports you can head around to the Cote Sauvage of Quiberon where the surf awaits. If you like the calmer waters head to the Baie instead. Then there are also boat tours through the Golfe du Morbihan. We did this one too. It was terrific! The guide explained the history of all the sites we passed along the way to Ile aux Moines. We stopped there and wandered around for about an hour before heading back to the boat for the rest of our tour. The boat tour was filled with young families. The kids seemed to be loving it as much as we did! Quiberon has markets on Saturday that are well worth a look and there is currently a Guerin art exposition until August. I loved Quiberon! We were there to days but we could have stayed much longer. Our hosts at Hotel Ker Royal were amazing! So friendly and helpful. They really made sure we had a holiday that we will never forget! Quiberon is a place for families, couples and retirees alike. There is something for everyone.Guest review byVanessaAustralia
