The restaurant is marked in the Michelin guide and attracts with its high-quality service and cuisine. The location is exceptional - in the very heart of Tartu's Old Town yet, in the quiet corner of it. Breakfast was wonderful and the waiters were helpful there as well (I would only recommend using less salt in an omelet and no salt & sugar in the porridge). The spa is small & cozy with a luxurious atmosphere inside. Overall, Lydia Hotel provided us with a wonderful stay caring about us at every step.

What a beautiful stay it was at Nina Kordon's Guesthouse! First of all, thank you for being so patient and understanding while I was trying to speak Estonian and remember all the words, It was such a pleasure to speak the language after so many years! Now about the actual guesthouse - it was marvellous, so authentic, very clean, and has everything you might need. Also such a close distance to the beach (literally less than a minute's walk) and the possibility of looking at the beautiful sunset over Peipsi Lake.
Additionally, I must mention the breakfast. Your pickles will forever live in my memory! And by serving them for breakfast, you just stole my heart, cos I'm a true pickle girl. My husband was amazed by the variety of breakfast options and he especially enjoyed the linden tea you had.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Vikerkaare Villa!
The location is stunning – peaceful, elegant, and full of charm, with beautiful architecture and a warm, almost royal atmosphere. Everything was spotless, and the attention to detail truly exceeded my expectations.
The host was exceptional – kind, welcoming, and genuinely attentive to every guest’s needs. I didn’t just feel like a guest, I felt truly cared for.
I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for comfort, peace, and authentic hospitality. I will definitely return!

The owner is very nice and helpful, the room was very clean and super cozy and the manor has a unique and very pleasant atmosphere. There is a very well equipped, spatious and cozy kitchen. We used the hotel as a base for bike trips around. The area was great for that because it was very beautiful and there were almost no cars on the roads.

Absolutely fantastic small, green, walkable city with a great young studently attitude combined with lots of arts. Poets, writers dramatists who had come from there.
I found learning all about them while strolling leisurely around their city fascinating. I, personally, really hope to return there soon.

This can be dubbed the garden town of Estonia (which in itself could be named the garden country of Europe). Every detached house has an immaculate garden with lots of flowers in the summer and the town government does not save pennies on making streets floral and beautiful. There are small and larger forests in the neighbourhood and there are two small beaches bordering natural lakes in the town centre. For those looking for vibrant nightlife, this is not the place to be. From Elva you can take the train or bus to Tartu from the 19th century wooden train station. In the other direction, the train goes to Valga from where you can travel onwards into Latvia. Overall, i would think that 3 days is about right to explore Elva (and its excellent small scale restaurants) and the surroundings.

The hostess was great.
The hostess was great. They provided additional information regarding a tour of the castle and the area. The breakfast menu was provided the evening before and it was extensive. I checked off just about everything on offer and then worried it would be too much, but the portions were adjusted accordingly, and thus I was delighted to have been able to taste all of what was offered. As for the area...restful.

Tartu is the intellectual capital of Estonia and has some great museums. Eesti Rahva Museum is a must go. A fantastic history of Estonia and the finno-ugrik peoples. Vanemuine opera is good and good value. Loodus museum is better than Tallinn.
