Eventhough we were not upset at all and were not looking for any compensation. By far this is one of the best hotels i have been to in terms of comfort and service, both my husband and i highly recommend it. We did not want to leave. You are greeted at the entrance, your luggage is taken, and if you arrive earlier than check-in time, you are offered the opportunity to leave your luggage in a safe place and, in the meantime, be served a coffee. The staff is extremely kind and helpful. As for us, we had a big surprise because they gave us a free upgrade to the room we had booked. We enjoyed a superb view overlooking the sea and the possibility of sunbathing right on the terrace in front of the room. We were also fully satisfied with the variety of food at breakfast. An inviting city for tourists, clean, beautiful, authentic. Prices for food, drinks, gifts are relatively reasonable for Israel. Public transportation is scarce and not very accessible, taxis are relatively expensive. It is better to rent a car at the airport, it will be cheaper, especially if the hotel is not in the center of Bohemia (port). We have been to Protarus quite a few times and we will come back again soon. It is the less noisy, family friendly sibling to nearby Ayia Napa. The main strip is full of family restaurants and bars, you can drop down any of the side streets and arrive at the seafront boardwalk. It's a very safe and friendly city. It is easy to get around and residents are even kind enough to offer you a ride in case you get lost and no taxis in sight. Despite the language barrier, most people at least try to speak English. The food variety is actually limited with most cafés offering fast food which is not a fave. Polis is a nice place to spend a couple of days. There are some good restaurants and bars in the center of the town, serving nice traditional dishes in good prices. Nearby Latsi beach is well organised, offering all the amenities someone can expect (lifeguard, changing rooms, toilets). I was expecting more people in Platres during the summer month of may but unfortunately the place looked deserted. Very few restaurants were open to have lunch and dinner, and sometimes the quality was very avarage. We chose a strategy of staying in a relatively central location, between Larnaca/Limassol and Ayia Napa, and rented a car.
