We loved our stay in South West Bay. It is the best place to stay on the island by far! And Mario is so nice! ask him for restaurant tips and he will provide you everyday with a fresh one.

The cabanas are lovely, set in a nice garden with even a pool that is useful after a day at the beach. The interior of the cabanas is basic but they are clean, spacious, with fridge and air conditioning and an outdoor space. The staff is friendly and helpful and the included breakfast is good and complete. I had read negative reviews and honestly don't see the point. The beach in front no longer exists because of the hurricane that hit the island a few years ago, the bar/restaurant La Terrazza in front offers sunset views and really good cocktails. Providencia is still an island little exploited by mass tourism, but there is a lot of restaurants , especially on the beach, really nice and good, with delicious fish and lobster. There are sunflies and mosquitos but with a good repellent they are kept away 😉

The owners are incredibly hospitable, friendly and helpful, and always had a smile on their faces. They made our stay very comfortable and worry free. Breakfast was something different every day, we were able to use a kitchen, we rented a scooter with them, we were able to do some laundry, and they called us a taxi when heading back to the airport. The room itself was everything you need it to be, with comfortable beds and a large bathroom. You can just ask for it to be cleaned any day. We also had a balcony with seats, hammocks and a view of the bay.

The posada is perfectly located close to the town on the northside of the island. Our room was clean, spacious and well-equipped with everything we might need for a few days’ stay (including air conditioning and a full kitchenette). Most importantly, however, Lyndon was warm and welcoming, and he went above and beyond to assist us during our stay, from arranging guided tours and activities, to restaurant recommendations, and organising a buggy rental for us, which are all things we would have had more difficulty doing on our own. He was generous with his time and made our stay on Providencia truly wonderful.

We liked everything about this place. The location next to the beach, the little terrace with seaview and we enjoyed all the help from the host/family who is living next door. Rooms are cleaned everyday. Location is perfect since there is also a supermarket and some restaurants within 5min walking.

Jasmina was really nice to us since the beginning, she first asked about our plans to support our stay the best way and helped us the whole time, we are really grateful! Beyond that, the rooms are comfortable and clean, the location is close to Isla Catalina, but it’s better to take cabs or rent a car to make the stay in Providence easier.

This was a 10+! Especially the staff was extraordinary. Best hosts we've met. The island struggled after a huge hurricane in November 2020 that destroyed almost the entire island. Slowly they are reviving, and this hotel is one of the first at full speed again. Nice and cosy rooms with good airco and (hot) showers. Drinking water is provided. Staff knows all the locations and options at the island, with correct prices. They helped us to explore the island, and made sure we would find the places that are open again for food, drinks and activities. Come here and experience how warmth can be the combination of nature and people.

Getting to Providencia seems like a hassle, particularly for those who are not coming from Colombia, but it's actually quite easy and worth the visit! People on the island are very friendly, making it feel safe for solo travelers or couples. There are spots to eat within walking distance of the major beaches. Because the island relies on tourism, one can easily find a tour guide to take them diving, hiking, or generally from place to place. Getting around is easy via motorbike or golf cart.

Santa Catalina is the smaller island north of Providence.

Santa Catalina is the smaller island north of Providence. It's quieter, walking-only, and connected to the other island via a bridge. In a way, this is the prettier island, and it's got the historic fort plus pirate hideouts to the north (accessable via swimming or boat). It's got a tiny, quiet beach which is absolutely gorgeous. Both islands combined are tiny and easy to get around, so I ate on Providencia mostly, though there are cafes on Santa Catalina and I bought drinks and snacks at the shops on Santa Catalina. I liked staying on Santa Catalina and would stay there next time.

Old orovidence is an amazing island and people, it is more caribbean than colombian. The food is fantastic, poeple are are guenuinely kind. The paces to visit are beautiful, some of the beaches are tucked away and off the beaten track, manchaneel beach. It is quiet, if you wat to rest, write or be creative. There are still signs of the devistation from hurricane Iota, but thats because those in charge have been slow to remove it. However this does not take away from neopolitan ice cream coloured churches and houses. It definitely has a sea of seven colours. It is an unspoilt jewel in the caribbean.

The island is beautiful and not crowded at all.

The island is beautiful and not crowded at all. However, it has a terrible stray dog issue. Especially at Southwest beach where a few roam around in the evenings attacking tourists. One of them bit me. If you’re traveling alone, I’d keep that in mind.
