We arrived pretty late at night but when we arrived the host mother gave us bread and a warm cup of tea and chocolates which we are so so thankful for! The host father also gave us lots of recommendations for where we can go sightseeing around goschenen! There is a beautiful lake up the mountains which is pretty close by and easy to get to by bus! The coop supermarket is in the same building, so you can buy stuffs wearing t shirts! Thomas, the owner, he’s so nice! The room is super spacious and what a view! And you can park (and charge your car if you need) in a garage, so you don’t have to worries about the snow in your car, only be grateful for big amounts of snow! One of the most beautiful places in Switzerland, that is not very much known to international travelers, which means cable car prices here are way cheaper than for example Mont Pilatus. It has everything, the lakes, majestic mountain peaks, secluded Seelisberg See, the historical background. The shape of Vierwaldstättersee makes it looking like a fjord from above. The staff were very friendly. The owners (Gaby and Andy) gave us hints for where to hike in winter and loaned us walking sticks. The view from our room was beautiful looking at the mountains and lake across the valley. We assume summer will be beautiful as well. The restaurant was also excellent with a good selection and service. Breakfast included with the room was also great. Altdorf was a nice little village and people were helpful. The hospitality was second to none, 5 of us turned up on motorbikes after only booking a couple of hours earlier. The hosts went out of their way to cook us a home cooked meal even though it really should have been reserved earlier, as there was nowhere else open, there was also an honesty bar. The room was cramped, 6 mattresses in a row, and basic but it was all we needed after a hard days riding. Then it was topped off in the morning with an included continental breakfast, that was great. Nice place. I used it for an overnight stop, whilst continuing the next day to Italy. It is clean, price is right, nothing special. Price and quality match, people are friendly. I phoned in advance to check how to find it, the owner explained this to me clearly and in a friendly way. Cute little town with a detailed history. Get a copy of the walking tour and/or check out the museum at the train station for more information about the tunnels and bridges.
