- From US$242.77 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 755 reviewsExcellent location, surrounded by quiet and cute neighbourhood, and has fantastic view of the snowy mountains and lake, every morning the first thing I did was to go to the balcony and took pictures. It was extremely easy and quick to reach by bus 201 from Montreux centre; Staff were extremely helpful and welcoming, learnt me tips and we had funny conversations, I felt at home. It’s a family business and you could tell staff work like a lovely big family; Breakfast was very cute and many choices, loved the bakery, hams, eggs, yogurt, melons, milk etc. I believed the owner of the hotel was serving guests during breakfast every morning, by asking my room number he knew how many people were coming with me for breakfast (so that he could suggest a table), such an impressive detail which makes you feel this is a super nice place to stay; Interior design and decoration was fabulous, it felt like a mini Downton Abbey. Although it is now almost two hundred years old, it is just so elegant and cozy. They have menus from 1900s displaying on the wall, many old but beautiful drawings of the hotel in 1800s & 1900s. You would feel you are witnessing and becoming part of a history. One hundred years ago, there was a woman who travelled to Montreux by ship from the other side of the continent by herself, she wrote a diary which inspired me one hundred years later, it is very mind-blowing to think the hotel might have seen us both now:) I chose the hotel for this reason, and very pleasantly I enjoyed very much the stay!Guest review byChenNetherlands
- From US$143.42 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 2,133 reviewsGreat Great hotel, just because of very professional reception (Both the Portuguese gentleman who receive me the arrival day and the beautiful lady who relief his shift later in the day When I arrived at the hotel, the gentleman gave me a full explanation on free tickets, free museums, the train trip up the mountain. He issued me free transport tickets in and around the city of Montreux. I am not sure if my Swiss Pass included the free city transport. He pointed out the bus stop just opposite the hotel and briefed me bus numbers, timetable, where is the supermarket, the promenade etc. What a beautiful people, hotel and the beautiful location. I wish I can give Tralala 10 starsGuest review byGeorgeNamibia

- From US$246.67 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 5,294 reviewsThe views are spectacular. The front desk staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I had an upgraded bedroom which was very spacious and really comfortable. Location is perfect - in the centre of town right across the road from the train station and overlooking the lane. The complimentary hot drinks, popcorn, and sweets in the lobby were a welcome touch. I will be staying here again when I return to Montreux.Guest review byJenniferIreland

After visiting bigger towns, Montreux was a refreshing quieter cousin. Made the most of the Montreux travel pass. Allowing free bus and train travel as far as Vervey. I would suggest when travelling by train further afield to get help from the ticket office, as this will save you money. The free Queen Studio tour is worth a visit, located in the Casino. Boat trips are a must, we did a circular 2.5 hr one and it was worth paying the small amount extra for the first class. Chateaux Chillon is worth a visit, and only a 40 minute stroll back to the town, along the beautiful shore of lake Geneva.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

beautiful, tranquil town of Vevey is a pleasure to visit- we landed in Geneva and drove to Vevey that morning and we just loved our visit. We could have stayed much longer. Terrific restaurants, the village and shopping and walking the lake - just wonderful.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
Take the time to explore the shops along the Grand Rue.
Take the time to explore the shops along the Grand Rue. I especially enjoyed the La Consomm market which sold local products, and a well organized second hand shop on the western end of the street. Unfortunately the Paper museum was closed due to holiday while we were there. The balloon museum was small but interesting, especially the little area with videos telling the story of the Breitling orbits.Guest review byMountain LoverUnited States - 10.0
Carry a map/guide when visiting places of interest / shops.
Carry a map/guide when visiting places of interest / shops. It's easier to get around with a friend and to travel with a taxi. Trains are available, but mostly when visiting areas nearby or larger locations. If you are not used to a cool to cold climate, take some warm clothes, especially if you are going to go hiking up the mountains - it can get pretty cold. Nearby attractions include Gruyères Castle, Gstaad, Glacier 3000 and especially Vevey, the closest area where you can experience Lake Geneva.Guest review bychintanpatelSouth Africa - 10.0
We Loved our stay there ❤️
We Loved our stay there ❤️ The castle was an extraordinary experience. It brings us out of our common sense place. Wonderful view at front side terrace of big tower, we enjoyed our evenings there. Peaceful morning breakfast at our back terrace, surrounded by trees, perfect place for morning yoga meditations. Beautiful room, large, a kitchen supported staying longer at the place. A nice table inside was great for the rainy days.Guest review byYaraBrazil - 10.0
The Community of Veytaux is at an excellent location towards...
The Community of Veytaux is at an excellent location towards the east end of the Lake of Geneva. Although the community is small, you can do a lot from here. The Chateau Chillon is in the political community of Veytaux. The chateau is impressive; and its visitors can learn a lot about the history of this region of Switzerland. Further east, you can visit Villeneuve and can take a steamer boat cruise on the Lake of Geneva. - The Swiss Train Pass helps to save a lot of money when you use the trains, the boats, the gondolas, the busses, etc. throughout the country. West of Veytaux is Montreux. You can enjoy the lovely community of Montreux alongside the lake, go up the Roches de Naye and enjoy the beautiful view over the Lake of Geneva, take trains in diverse directions (e.g., Gruyère, for the cheese factory tour, maybe combined with a tour at the chocolate factory of Caillier, the Golden Express yo Interlaken, etc.). If you like train traveling, you can easily travel to Geneva and see the old town, visit the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, go up to Brig and see its old town or visit Briggerbad and its thermal bath and waterpark, or even go up to Zermatt if your an early bird and go upon the Gornergrat or up on the Small Matterhorn. Veytaux is a place to stay at and see; and, it can "base camp" to see many more places in the greater region. Just have the right train pass so that you can easily use the public transport network and comfortably travel to different sites of interest. Eating out and enjoying your companionship while being served a good meal is possible as well.Guest review byReneCanada - 10.0
Great location to explore the Swiss Alps.
Great location to explore the Swiss Alps. Magnificent scenery, "a postcard at every turn!" We visited in early December and they had had snow. Would definitely recommend a trip on the Mont Blanc express to Chamonix. As well as a trip to Glacier 3000, both offering stunning views of the Alps. A car is a must to appreciate the location.Guest review byPaulAustralia - 10.0

Montreux is a beautiful town, located on Lake Geneva, surrounded by mountains. Great dining, lovely flower lined promenade stretching for several kilometres along the lakeside. Great train services to many parts of Switzerland, especially the Golden Pass Express, which runs between Montreux and Interlaken, travelling through amazing landscapes, Special mention if you are a Queen fan is the Freddie Tour, which is an amazing tour and commentary about the time that Freddie Mercury and the band spent in Montreux's Mountain Studios, and the town, visiting locations where they hung out, and learning a true insight to Freddie. Will certainly return to this fabulous town.Guest review byAlanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

It rained while we were there, so it put a bit of a dampener on our stay. We still caught the bus to the funicular and walked all around the town and waterfront, still beautiful city even in the rain! We had a great meal at Blah Blah - Italian restaurant!Guest review byJohnUnited States - 10.0
A lovely little town in a superb Alpine setting.
A lovely little town in a superb Alpine setting. Outside often the loudest sound is the distant clangour of cow bells. Everyone there is really friendly, there are good options to eat out, the local trains give access to some great places, and if you stay more than one night (I think) you get a Pays d’en Haut discount card for reduced entry to various places (including the wonderful L’Etivaz cheese cellars) and free travel on local trains and buses.Guest review byAndrewAustralia
