- From $252.93 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.9Good - What previous guests thought, 2,194 reviewsWe were meant to stay from 7-16 Mar, cyclone hit and we were able to move our bookings to 28 Mar-6 Apr. We had 7 rooms during our stay (5 for 8 nights and 2 for 3 nights), x4 2 bedroom superior apts, x2 2 bedroom apts and x1 bedroom apt We did request and pay for 2 rooms on the ground. Right up until the day before we arrived, reception was not able to confirm our room numbers. If I'd known how far our 2nd room was going to be and how difficult it was going to be for our mum to go up/down the stairs to and from room, we would've asked to move rooms. We checked in quite late to the resort, so by the time we got in our room, unpacked and relaxed after our international flight, we'd already made ourselves comfortable and used the towels, bathrooms etc; when checking in I did keep telling the receptionist that we had our mum but that didn't seem to factor in her allocating the room. It was our fault for staying in the room. She just took her time walking around the resort Our room was very spacious and the arrival pack (eggs, bread, milk etc;) kids activity pack, free drinks/kids club/mini golf vouchers were much appreciated😊 even the road works outside the resort, you couldn't hear any extra noise where our rooms were located. We appreciated the washing machine and dryer. The resort having trolleys for shopping trips was handy to have. Car parking was a breeze and placed well within your room allocation. The gym was used frequently, games room visited by the kids/teenagers and the cinema was a hit with the under 5's The pools were amazing! there was something for everyone in our group (1yo to 60yo) was nice having the spas beside the pools too If something was broken or you needed an extra blanket, reported it to reception/rung house keeping and it was dealt with immediately. A1 service TIP: bring mat/old towel to use as door mat to wipe up wet floors when rainingGuest review byNayNew Zealand

I was amazed at all the infrastructure along the river.
I was amazed at all the infrastructure along the river. The City Cat (and City Dog, especially Bluey!!) were a fantastic mode of transport. Very inexpensive to use any public transport. Just 50cents a ride - tap on and tap off with your credit card. Very easy to get to South Bank, either on the City Cat or just take a relaxing walk across the foot bridge in front of Star Grand Hotel. It also takes you to the giant-sized Ferris wheel. Lovely in the evening with all the lights. Lots of restaurants on South Bank. Lovely area for swimming on South Bank for young families to enjoy. Amazing view from the top level of the Star Grand Hotel. Short walk to Queen Street Mall from my accommodation at the Star Grand.Guest review byTrishAustralia - 10.0
Beautiful beaches the whole way.
Beautiful beaches the whole way. Roads are busy but you can take the light rail and the bike paths are excellent. The surf clubs are excellent options for dining or drinks with an ocean view. Pacific fair in Broadbeach is an excellent and very large shopping mall for clothing especially. Lots of excellent restaurants, particularly in Broadbeach.Guest review byKeithAustralia - 10.0

Cairns is nice and flat and most things are in walking distance. Otherwise a taxi or Uber will get you where you need to go. Many great restaurants and steak houses. Try the Cock and Bull, they serve huge meals, offer kangaroo and croc on their menu and the staff are fantastic. A trip to Kuranda is a must if you have not been there before. I highly recommend taking the scenic railway up and the skyrail down. This allows for the best flexibility with time. Don't forget the islands and the reef. All are well worth a visit. If you like military things then the Australian Armour & Artillery Museum is a must. We go every time we are in Cairns. It is a private collection and there is always something new to see.Guest review byKymAustralia - 10.0

We visited during the annual festival of flowers.
We visited during the annual festival of flowers. Gardens are lovely. There's also interesting things to do for train enthusiasts. Plenty of shopping and dining options without the stampede of big cities. I was pleasantly surprized by the amount of green spaces and parks. Plenty of space to read a book, picnic or just walk through parks. Lovely museum and cafes to suite your needsGuest review byAnelleAustralia - 10.0

We both grew up in Rockhampton and so our 2 days there was spent visiting family and friends. Did notice that Yeppoon isn't the quiet little town it once was and happy to see the big improvements both in Yeppoon itself and also the state of the road from Rockhampton to Yeppoon.Guest review byCherylAustralia - 8.0

Mackay is a beautiful coastal spot, I'm planning another trip there soon. We visited the Marina, and did some shopping at Canelands. We attended an Engagement party with family there and the venue was beautifully set up, staff were so friendly and the weather was beautiful for a swim and fish and chips.Guest review byCindyExAustralia - 8.0

Hervey Bay is the best place in the world to see Humpback Whales whether for the juvenials that are people curious (known as August whales) or the Mothers and Calves which arrive from early September through to the end of October. My focus is only on the whales but there are various trips to K'Gari (formerly Fraser Island) either by organised bus tours, self drive or by boat to the West side where kyaking and beach tours plus whale watching in season is available. See Tasman Venture web site for details.Guest review byMarkUnited Kingdom
