This was our second stay at Ashburnham Estate, and once again, it exceeded all expectations. There’s a rare quality to this place—an effortless elegance and warmth that welcomes you the moment you arrive. The landscape is breathtaking, with rolling hills, and quiet, expansive views. Every detail of the experience feels considered, from the beautifully curated interiors to the gentle rhythm of each day. The food was exceptional, and prepared and served with genuine hospitality. Ashburnham offers not just a break from the everyday, but a complete shift in pace. The whole fteam is gracious and attentive without ever being intrusive, and their warmth and professionalism enhanced the sense of calm and care. I travel a lot, and I don’t believe there’s anywhere quite like it, thank you Vish, Daniel and the team! We will return again I’m sure!

The place is beautiful quiet area. You have amazing view on mountain and nature. Family is kind and helpful. Very good People. You can feeling how at your home. Very tasty and delicious breakfast. If you would like find good place to rest and spend positive time. Book this place. I recommend this place is the best option in Matale and on Sri Lanka. It was all so great I don't even know where to start from. The staff were super helpful and friendly (every single one of them), the food was Michelin-Star-Restaurant level, especially the Sri Lankan options, the rooms were very very clean, spacious, and so comfy that it was extremely relaxing even just staying on the balcony and listen to the birds, without any other sound disturbing in the surroundings. We stayed in the Garden View Chalet, and it was wonderful to be surrounded by all that nature (no TV in the rooms, that's a big plus!). The yoga lessons and the massages were also great, especially the afternoon yoga sessions with Rahul. In brief, if you really want to switch off and actually relax and take care of yourself, skip all the other places in the Hill Country and stay here instead. :)

This was one the best hotels i stayed in my time in Sri Lanka. The staff was great and the owner even more so. I did a tour with him through the knuckle forest reserve and it was absolutely beautiful. He also knew a great deal about the places we went to and the local community. The hotel was clean, had a good vibe and the vieuw from my room was amazing. 2 other rooms where being built and he had plans to put in a pool. If this place gets known, its going to be packed with tourist. I would highly recommend this place and if i ever go to Sri Lanka again, this hotel is going to be at the top of my list.

Where to start? This place is incredible and I would highly recommend anyone to come and sample the life here. The scenery is spectacular and you will get to spend time with the amazing Niro, Umanga and their family. Delicious home cooked food is on offer and you're just a few minutes walk from the village and it's friendly inhabitants.

location super quiet in the mountain with a great view of the Knuckles, staff very friendly and caring, very good sri lankan dinners, nice pool. We enjoyed the hike to Little Worls’end and the visit of the tea factory.
