Guests can find a private hot spring bath and Japanese restaurant on site. Friendly and helpful staff, responsive and waited for us although we artived very late. Great facilities in the botel.

The staff were excellent when we checked in and when we got our breakfast which was quite nice as well (although felt a bit high in sugar/carbohydrates). The public bath was very nice, the water was very hot compared to other hotels but enjoyable. The hotel is also located directly next to the bus station and above a supermarket and nearby all the sights.

Please book breakfast and at least try dinner once (very generous 12+ courses even if more pricey than regular plate but quality and quantity were insane) - large rooms with futon and beautiful view (only 10 rooms in this hotel), Onsen quiet and always on - yukata + kimono

Overall we loved our experience and would come back anytime.

Located along Houshi River, Houshi Onsen Chojukan features a public hot spring bath, Japanese-style accommodations with free Wi-Fi and Japanese cuisine. A wooden building stemming from 100 years ago, the property breathes a historical atmosphere. The onsen is amazing, they all have a great atmosphere and they have a mixed one. Great dinner and breakfast too!

Guests can refresh in the massages chairs at the relaxation rooms and enjoy a ganbanyoku hot-stone spa. Free WiFi is available at the entire property and JR Shibukawa Train Station is a 15-minute drive away. Oyado Tamaki is the perfect cozy getaway, with a welcoming atmosphere and staff who attend to every detail. From the warm greeting with yuzu tea to their helpfulness throughout our stay, the service was impeccable (5/5). Our “Kaede” room had a semi-open-air bath that was incredibly relaxing after a day of exploring. The ambiance is peaceful—especially in the lounge and courtyard—and the ryokan itself beautifully balances traditional Japanese hospitality with modern touches. There were some live Japanese beetles on display (in clearly marked glass jars) near the front desk and, even though the whole stay was great, that was a true unexpected treasure for me! We’ll definitely be returning for the exceptional hospitality and cozy vibe!
