It was the most wonderful place, a very special place, very calm, it felt very personal and exclusive The rooms were much more than just a room, having your own front door straight into the garden and pool area, they were incredibly clean and the bathroom is such a treat, it really connects you to the nature all around, absolutely fantastic and super clean also, great shower, very comfy large bed. The staff are brilliant, nothing is too much trouble and the food is fabulous, as in the rest of Sri Lanka and indeed anywhere, the local Sri lankan dishes were definitely the best and I would suggest people choose these, taste and presentation was superb. We would definitely love to come back

A car rental service is available at the lodge. We absolutely loved our stay at rock shade chalet!! The rooms were very comfortable and bright. The staff were absolutely exceptional - they were so attentive and polite. It was my boyfriend’s birthday during our stay and they surprised us with a cake! They grow a lot of their own food that they use in their restaurant so it’s all fresh produce. Excellent all round

Situated 3.5 km from Sigiriya Rock, Nimsara Lodge Sigiriya features accommodation with a garden, a terrace and room service for your convenience. Both WiFi and private parking are accessible at the lodge free of charge. The room is spacious, very clean, with a nice hot shower and the bed was big and comfortable! For this price, the quality is very good! The family is also very friendly. Location is a 5 minute drive from the centre, which was no problem for us because we had our own tuktuk. It is a quiet and calm location, and you can see hornbills and other animals in the garden! The breakfast was traditional and good, but maybe they can ask guests what they would like more/less and adjust a little.

The family welcomed us with incredible warmth and hospitality, making us feel completely at home from the very beginning. The room was beautiful, clean, and very comfortable. Their son, Chamee, kindly took us to visit both Pidurangala and Sigiriya — it was an unforgettable experience, perfectly organized. We also had the chance to join a fantastic cooking class with Kumani - the mother -, where we learned a lot and had so much fun. Everything was simply perfect. The location in the middle of the jungle was stunning. At night time all you can hear is the sound of the jungle- quite magical. Waking up to the hundreds of birds all around is also very special. Our trips (a boat ride and safari) and all our transport was perfectly organised by Dhammika who went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and share his knowledge of the area with us. The food was excellent - Nihal and Ajith made us delicious meals (one breakfast was even served down by the stream which was a lovely surprise). Madurangu and Raju also looked after us so well. We’re so glad we stayed 2 nights. I would happily have stayed much longer!
