United StatesIncredible experience from start to finish. I only stayed one night, but I felt immediately at home and could not have been happier. The private, in-room onsen was the highlight of the room without question. Such a wonderful way to unwind and I spent hours in there. They keep the onsen very hot, hotter than most I've been to, but it's easy to add cold water to cool it down and if you go too far, a call to the front desk will have hot water piping back in. I enjoyed soaking while watching the snow fall through the open window - and was very comfortable!
The room was extremely spacious with sliding partitions for each area, so if traveling with a partner or family, it would be easy to create privacy when needed. In-room amenities were great. Nice lotions, soaps, etc. Lighting in the room was very nice - I believe about 6 different settings you can choose from to create the mood you're looking for.
The meals were absolutely top notch and unforgettable, both the dinner and breakfast. I can't say enough good things but the food surpassed all my expectations. Simply lovely.
Checking in and out was very smooth and simple. It was easy to catch a taxi from directly outside Tobu Nikko station and when it was time to leave, the staff called a taxi for me.

CanadaGreat location, only a few minutes walk from the station. It's also near the grocery store to get some cheap bentos. There's a microwave on the first floor you can use. The room was very clean. The staff was very nice and were able to provide us whatever we needed. Free breakfast included. We were on the 4th floor, which had a beautiful view of the town and the mountains.

After staying in tokyo with small rooms, the size of this room felt very luxe. Staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming, the room has all bits and bobs you could need. The hotel is on a hill, takes about 20 minutes to walk down into town to tobu nikko. The space is old and a bit worn but charming and the staff is great. It's a hotel with a feeling of a hostel for older people as there is a lounge for watching TV where you can meet and chat with other visitors, and tables where they serve breakfast and dinner.
