Monte da Luz overlooks the Alqueva Lake, is 4 km from the village of Alqueva by dirt road, 6 km from the Alqueva river beach and 65 km from Évora and Beja, between Portel and Moura. We are a couple in our sixties and we live in Monte da Luz, which has 8500m2, in a wooden house with 2 bedrooms. We also have a mobile home with two bedrooms with double beds, a bathroom, a living room with a sofa bed, internet, air conditioning with ceiling fans in the bedrooms and living room and heating with a wood-burning stove in the living room. As the septic tank is biological, guests are asked not to flush any type of paper down the toilet as it will clog the septic tank. In an annex next door there is a kitchen equipped with a gas stove, refrigerator, sink, all basic kitchen utensils and also a wood stove. There is also a dining room and a full bathroom. Hot water is provided by a gas heater that is installed in the kitchen. There is a large patio in front of the mobile home with a porch, barbecue, dishwasher and views of the city of Moura and the Alqueva dam. The pool is shared with the owners of the hill and only opens in June. As Monte da Luz is part of an off-grid system (without a grid connection), electricity is supplied by photovoltaic panels and batteries, water is extracted from a borehole using a generator/water pump and stored in a 3500L tank. Therefore, guests are asked to be careful not to turn on appliances that consume a lot of energy, namely microwaves, toasters, hair dryers, etc., and also when using water. Guests will also need to be careful of mosquitoes, as we're located very close to the Alqueva Lake, where there are many, especially as the sun begins to set. That's why all the windows have mosquito nets, and we have a mosquito repellent device plugged into an electrical outlet.

I am a person who increasingly prefers contact with nature, who enjoys simple but profound things, who enjoys interacting with new people, who is respectful, altruistic, and who prefers to have love in my life instead of fear.

What stands out about Monte da Luz is the tranquility, the view of Lake Alqueva and the surrounding landscape.
