We have a passion for hosting guests in our inviting home. Set amongst extensive gardens, with a pond, our home is a rural retreat only 4 minutes into the charming Cambridge. We both enjoy entertaining and we encourage our guests to join us for dinner. Our team includes Harry the Jack Russell, Rosie the miniature pony, Clodagh the Kune-kune pig, Gerry the cat, and Suzanne the chicken. Sit back and enjoy the extensive views of Maungakawa Mountain, while enjoying the relaxing vibe.

Your hosts Belinda Gelston and Pete Varcoe offer you unique access and insight into the Waikato, in the heart of New Zealand's equine country. From horse trekking to ‘learn to ride’ experiences, to touring some of the most prestigious breeding studs in the country. Belinda’s passion and history in the equine world makes for a truly unique and captivating experience. Born in Northern Ireland, Belinda’s grandfather owned and trained race horses that won prestigious Irish races. Belinda’s Father owned a large indoor riding school which the Irish Olympic team used to train. “By the grand age of two I had 3 ponies,” says Belinda. My maternal grandmother was an extraordinary hostess, she spent a lot of her time in the kitchen baking and cooking, and always had “one potato for the pot just in case a guest turned up unexpectedly. I started cooking from my first cookbook under her guidance at the age of 7. I still am involved in riding, instructing and judging at the occasional event. My happy place is either on a horse ambling over the beautiful lush NZ countryside or in the kitchen entertaining guests while preparing dinner. I love combining these two passions to host guests and create bespoke experiences while also showcasing NZ. Pete joins Belinda in hosting Ballygelvar’s guests. A surf lifesaver, volunteer fireman, landscape designer, mad rugby supporter, golf. Pete enjoys hosting guests whether it's over a delicious red wine by the fireside or playing golf at one of the nearby golf courses.
