Popular among non-touristy travelers looking for a off the beaten path stay, Square Peg is a labor of love which has gone to great lengths to custom make almost every fixture in an effort to provide the adventurous traveler with a unique and unforgettable experience.
Located halfway up the legendary Bahirawakanda hill it is within a 4 minute drive from the kandy Railway station (1km) 10 minutes by foot. 1.2Km to the Temple of the tooth and the Kandy lake.
The rooftop restaurant exclusive for inhouse guest offers breathtaking views of the entire city of Kandy including the historic Temple of the tooth, the Kandy lake, the historic Bogambara prison and the Hanthana mountain range.
Probably the last remaining non-touristy neighborhood so close to the city. The property sits in the boarder of the most high end residential neighborhood of Kandy on one side and a densely populated native working class neighborhood on the other.
The shortest access road from city by tuk tuk or by foot will bring you through a two minute walk through a thickly populated working class neighborhood before coming through a 5 minute walk along a very sparsely populated neighborhood in which the property is located. This makes for a fascinating walk for the curious traveler.
A car or a van should take the main road which is 1.5Km from the Kandy Railway station to the door step.
