The Hut is positioned within a small traditional farm steading and looks out to open farmland towards a small burn. It is the perfect place to spend a holiday or short break for two in a traditional but unusual setting. Originally constructed in 2017 it was converted to it's present configuration at the start of 2020. Designed as traditional Shepherd's Hut on the outside the inside has been designed to provide modern standards of comfort including a full sized double bed, ensuite, kitchen and dining area. There is also a sun lounge beside the Shepherd's Hut where you can relax during the day. There is a patio which is south facing so it is quite a sun trap when the sun shines and a barbeque and charcoal is provided. The garden is enclosed so that if you would like to bring a well-behaved small or medium dog then they will be able to play in the garden (if you are bringing a dog please advise at the time of booking so I am aware of this). The Shepherd's Hut gets decorated for Christmas, Halloween and Valentine's Day. There is normally a minimum of a 2 night stay required due to the amount of work involved in the changeovers. However many guests have said they wished that they were staying longer so I have added a 5% discount if you would like to stay 3 nights or more and a 10% discount for 7 or more night stays.

We have always loved the idea of small space living since building our first summerhouse back in the late 1990s. (last century ! must be getting older!) The Shepherds Hut was an obvious choice for us combining as it does the best traditional rural appearance on the outside with all the home comforts inside for a cosy and relaxing stay.

Waterloo itself is a small collection of houses about a mile north of the village of Bankfoot in Perthshire thought to have been established and named after the famous battle of the same name around 200 years ago. It is convenient for exploring the city of Perth nearby or the local town of Dunkeld or as a base for exploring beyond being easily accessible by car, train and even buses. The local area itself is also ideal for cycling being located on the National Cycle route 77 as well walking and many other outdoor activities that can be found nearby. Alternatively the Shepherds Hut and local area is also ideal just to kick back and relax in a largely peaceful setting and observe the local birds and maybe even some wildlife too. Please note that due to the rural location there are no high speed internet networks available in the area. We have provided a Three 5G router exclusively for guests in the Shepherd's Hut so you will manage to use email/ messenger/ etc but it can have difficulties at times with connections to Iplayer, Facetime, etc.
