Ardarroch Cottage is a small intimate B&B offering an exceptional standard of accommodation for adult guests. The house has stunning views of the local hills, Ben Nevis (the UK’s highest mountain) and Loch Eil. Between April and October you can watch the famous Harry Potter 'Jacobite' Steam Train pass the house daily. With two large bedrooms (double/king size) and a maximum of four guests, this B&B guarantees the quality, service and attention to detail required of 5 star accommodation. Your host, Ellie, is passionate about food and takes great care in selecting and preparing the best produce, using local suppliers and harvesting fresh ingredients from the greenhouse and vegetable garden where possible. A full Scottish Breakfast is served with your choice of eggs. Lighter options can include omelettes, home hot-smoked salmon with scrambled or poached eggs, pancakes (with bacon and maple syrup or berries and yoghurt). Fresh fruit salad, fruit juice, yoghurt, cereals, toast and porridge are all available. Daily specials include eggs Benedict, Florentine or Royale, Loch Fyne Kipper or a Continental platter. All preserves are home made. If you need to leave very early in the morning, you can order a 'breakfast to go' option. Packed lunches are also available to book. Delicious evening meals are an optional extra with a choice of 2 or 3 courses including home hot-smoked salmon salad, home-made soups, local venison sausages, salmon, haggis and chicken. And if you have room... try home-made sticky toffee pudding, chocolate and raspberry iced parfait or traditional Scottish cranachan. For breakfast and dinner, simply ask about vegetarian and vegan options, and discuss any food allergies or intolerances with your host. Situated 10 miles West of Fort William and 6 miles East of Glenfinnan on the scenic 'Road to the Isles' (A830), Ardarroch Cottage is ideally located for those wanting to be 'out of town' but still within easy access of all the facilities offered in Lochaber - 'The Outdoor Capital of the UK'. The area is full of opportunities for climbing, skiing, walking, cycling, kayaking and sightseeing. For golfers, there are courses nearby at Fort William (18 hole) and Traigh (9 hole) near Arisaig. Attractions include the Nevis Range Gondola, Ben Nevis Distillery, West Highland Museum in Fort William and Neptune's Staircase on the nearby Caledonian Canal. At Glenfinnan, you can discover Jacobite history at the Monument and National Trust for Scotland visitor centre. You can also see the famous Viaduct - extremely popular for Harry Potter enthusiasts, visit the Museum at Glenfinnan Station and take a boat trip on Loch Shiel to spot local wildlife. With a car you can explore the 5 West Highland Peninsulas of Ardnamurchan, Moidart, Morvern, Sunart and Ardgour. Boat trips to the Small Isles are possible from Arisaig (25 miles) and Mallaig (33 miles). Glencoe is 26 miles south of the B&B. There as so many possibilities for day trips and your host would be delighted to assist in helping you plan your stay. The B&B is just 3 minute walk from Locheilside train station which connects Fort William to Mallaig on the world-renowned West Highland Line. Connections are available with the sleeper train from London Euston to Fort William. From Mallaig you can take the ferry over to Skye. There is also a local bus service - a request stop directly in front of Ardarroch Cottage.
