Hello - Your Hosts are Melinda & Geoff We welcome you to the Town of Preston Beach, to the Resort of Footprints and to our Townhouse (No.7) For us personally, we fell in love with the Resort & the area of Preston Beach for its Family friendly feel and endless outdoor adventures that can be enjoyed by Adults & Children alike, its an extremely unique location and still one of the very few places you can 4 wheel drive on the beach, the Resort is very family friendly & relaxing. To be enjoyed as while while visiting is the abundance of native wildlife that call the Resort home too. The area is also renowned for its scenic beauty, the Yalgorup National Park and the surrounding lakes attract a variety of native animals and bird life. There are viewing platforms, a boardwalk and several walk trails for everyone to enjoy. Neighboring Preston Beach are the Cities of Mandurah and Bunbury and the Tourism towns of Dwellingup, Waroona, Pinjarra and Harvey with Dwellingup voted Top Tourist Town for 2024, a must see if your staying in the area. The picturesque seaside haven of Preston Beach is popular among nature lovers & fishing enthusiasts. It's an ideal base from which to explore Lake Clifton & Yalgorup National Park, one of the few places in the world where you can see thrombolites - one of the oldest organisms on Earth. Preston Beach is only 45 minutes south of bustling Mandurah but is a quiet sanctuary for native flora, fauna, and holidaymakers alike. In addition to being one of the only places on the planet where you can view thrombolites - 'living rocks' formed by microbial life forms over millions of years, the salt-water lakes & wetlands of Yalgorup National Park are teeming with wildlife. It's the temporary home for hundreds of migrating birds, as well as a host of water birds, such as the endangered hooded plover. Stroll along walk trails to observe the native flora and fauna, including blankets of vibrant wildflowers in spring. Take the Heathlands Walk for sweeping views over Lake Preston to Myalup, or the Lake Pollard Trail which leads to a bird hide on the water's edge. Alternatively, grab your clubs and take to the challenging nine-hole golf course adjacent to Yalgorup National Park. Here, you can negotiate undulating terrain under the critical eyes of the resident kangaroos & emus. On the beach, the crystal clear water beckons you to take a swim or throw in a line to catch skippy, herring, tailor, whiting, or salmon (in season). Four-wheel drives are permitted on the beach and you can drive from Preston Beach to Myalup and then enjoy lunch at the Old Coast Brewery, a must see on your Adventure, a wonderful family friendly Brewery with its own mini putt golf course. Other attractions include beautiful Lake Navarino which is located behind Waroona Dam and is a popular recreation area for swimming, water skiing and freshwater fishing, add Drakesbrook Weir which is a beautiful setting to enjoy a swim, fish, canoe, picnic or barbecue. Undulating hills provide a picturesque backdrop.
