Hi, I moved to Binalong Bay Tasmania from mainland Australia more than 15 years ago. After discovering what a beautiful area the Bay of Fires is, I decided to help others to enjoy the world renowned Bay of Fires on the East Coast of Tasmania. I now have a number of quality holiday rentals and enjoy meeting guests and talking to them about the area.

Bay of Fires Eco Hut is an off the grid experience. The Eco Hut is deliberately simple. Power is solar, major appliances are gas and water is rain water from a tank. With a nod to the camping experience, the ‘loo with a view’ is just behind the hut and the shower is outside on the back deck. While it may be daunting at first, once you have showered under the stars with no one in sight, you may be transformed. There is no internet or WiFi (unless you have a mobile device linked to Telstra), no TV (bring your laptop if you need it) and, as in most of Tasmania, the only phone service provider is Telstra. The one concession is a bluetooth-enabled or plug-in portable speaker for you to link to if you just can’t live without the music! If you haven’t been put off yet, be advised that the hut is stylish and extremely comfortable. You’ll have instant hot water and a modern caravan-style fridge – both gas-powered. For cooking, there is a stovetop, a microwave (for warming food only) and a WeberQ on the deck. All kitchen items are supplied. We provide commercially laundered, top-quality linen but only for the main bed. NB: The extra sleeping arrangements require you to bring a sleeping bag

The area of Bay of Fires is famous for its amazing beaches. The best one, Binalong Bay Beach is a short 400 meter walk from the Eco Hut. As are many other beautiful walks, both bush and beach. There is a great restaurant, Merestä Eatery, just 450 meters walk, so no need to miss out on a quality coffee. If you want to experience the Bay of Fires from a different perspective, take a boat tour with Bay of Fires Eco Tours - just 600 meters walk! Or ring Tas4x4 Tours for a four wheel drive experience with a friendly local guide. Eco Hut is also within an easy drive (or ride) to the new Mountain Bike trails.
