KazakhstanGood words about Central hostel in Sheki:
1) Staff: Hostel staff (young gentleman and lady) were very helpful, caring, customer oriented.
2) Location: 10 points out of 10. Hostel is located very centrally. There are parks, café, restaurants, electronic store, pharmacy, bank, ATM around hostel. Very safe location at night. CCTV cameras everywhere around the hostel.
3) My room and bed: My room was very clean like in a museum. I was provided the bed I asked. Room pictures match with what I saw in booking.com. In general, hostel itself was very clean everywhere every day.
4) Laundry service: I saw laundry machine upstairs, but didn’t use it. I assume there is a laundry service in the hostel if you need to wash your clothes.
5) Breakfast: There is a café in the hostel where you can get fantastic breakfast for 6 manat. There is also hostel’s kitchen on top floor, where you could cook by yourself, but I didn’t use it.
6) Taxi and city microbus (marchrutka): Really good public transportation system around. Public microbus (marchrutka) #11 goes straight to the Sheki Khan’s Palace from the parallel street, near the hostel. Public microbus (marchrutka) #15 from the bus stop next to the hostel goes to the neighbor Kish village where you can see ancient Alban church of the 12th century.
Sightseeing places:
1) Caravan serai – 30 minutes of walking distance from the hostel
2) Sheki Khan’s Palace - 45 minutes of walking up to the hill.
3) WW2 memorial – 30 minutes of walking distance from the hostel
4) City panorama view point in the cemetery near WW2 memorial – 40 minutes of walking distance from the hostel. It was interesting that hiking trail goes through the cemetery. Breathtaking city panorama views worth to go through the cemetery.
