When we came we did not have any food with us, he lent us his scooter for free to go get some food in town. We could also store our baggage when exploring the island for a few days. Great location with a nice vibe. Would come again.

Ananda Guesthouse está en Balgue, a 12 km de Volcán Maderas, y dispone de alojamiento con jardín, parking privado gratis, terraza y zona de barbacoa. David the Manager of the guesthouse was really nice and helpful and we felt welcomed very much also by the rest of the staff. The garden is a perfect relaxing spot with one of the best views of the island. Breakfast was delicious. Rooms are comfortable, spacious and very clean. We can highly recommend Ananda!

El Güis hostel se encuentra en Balgue, a 12 km de Volcán Maderas, y ofrece alojamiento con jardín, parking privado gratis, terraza y restaurante. 1000% recommend staying here! Very chill environment and the owners truly make you feel like part of the family. They have the biggest hearts and they also keep the facility very clean and comfortable feeling. We will miss this place for sure

Rustic House Hostel se encuentra en Moyogalpa, a 36 km de Volcán Maderas, y ofrece alojamiento con jardín y parking privado gratis. This place is great! The value is amazing - one of the lowest prices we’ve found for a private room with private bathroom in almost 6 months of travelling in Latin America. Our room was clean and spacious, wifi worked well, there is a nice garden, and the location is good. There is a small kitchen which was a nice surprise since it wasn’t listed as an amenity on Booking. Danilo is a great host and speaks English very well. Also used him as a guide up Conception volcano and he was great. It also sounds like he has plans to invest more into the hostel so it will be even better!

Hostal Así es mi Tierra se encuentra en Balgue, a 12 km de Volcán Maderas, y ofrece alojamiento con jardín, parking privado gratis y terraza. We loved the relaxed vibe and how everything is set up and decorated, it's really really beautiful and we enjoyed just sitting around on our porch immensely! the location is great as it's away from the crazy hostel stuff but not too far with tons of great local places near by. Getting to all parts of the island from Balgue was ideal as well and everywhere you turn you see one of the volcanoes since you're right in between them. If you turn right from the place you get back into the main hostel area in a few minutes (on bike) and if you turn left you find really beautiful roadways and scenery and you can get away from all the "traveler" stuff. Cafe compestre is just down the street (2 min walking) where you can get a really really good cappuccino. My boyfriend also got a haircut across the street haha. The food they made us was so so so good (our favorite if we HAD to pick was probably the burritos, and they make some of the best smoothies on the island). we were also able to get our moto bike and kayaking through the family as well, and everything was a really good price and easy. On day 4 or so we found a hole in the tire which they fixed in just a couple hours and they didn't charge us which we really appreciated. There was a power outage one evening (it happens on the island from time to time) and they set us up with a candlelit dinner and we just loved that (picture below). The family who owns this are truly wonderful people and we felt really at home, possibly too at home as we were supposed to stay 5 nights and we stayed 9 or 10 😂. I usually got up early and worked a few hours in the balcony seating area with a coffee or smoothie, so can confirm working here is also no problem. For context, I was working fully online building a webpage with large files so internet needed to be really functioning well, and it was :)

Hostal Bullshark se encuentra en Cuatro Esquinas, a 16 km de Volcán Maderas, y ofrece alojamiento con jardín, parking privado gratis, salón de uso común y terraza. We had a wonderful stay at this hostel! The family running it is incredibly kind and welcoming. The breakfast was delicious, and the terrace offers a stunning view on both valcanos– perfect for relaxing. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a cozy and friendly place to stay!

Guest House Nena se encuentra en Moyogalpa, a 35 km de Volcán Maderas, y ofrece servicio de conserjería, jardín, wifi gratis y terraza. Los anfitriones super amables en todo momento, la pieza muy limpia, y el desayuno muy rico! También me ayudaron a planificar mis días en Ometepe y tienen moto para alquilar. Lo recomiendo 100%!
