It is a hidden gem right on the lake. It is very peaceful with the most beautiful sunsets on the island and a great and affordable bar just next door - take a walk on the beach. It is a simple accommodation with all the basics you need. If you love nature, camping and being surrounded by animals - this is the place for you. We especially loved Moka, the dog who will follow you around and provide loads of protection. The staff were so helpful, the breakfasts were delicious and very reasonably priced. It was so affordable! I highly recommend and can't wait to go back!

Everything is nice and beautiful. The location is incredibly nice, the view with the Conception Vulcano is stunning , relaxing in the hamac during the evening and watching the stars on the sky is amazing. The rooms are nice and They are cleaning the room every single day ,changing the bed and towels, that is definitely a plus . Jose , the owner, is really helpful and great, will inform you about everything , tours, transport , what to do and visit. The kitchen is large and well equipped, good organisation. Go for it and you will enjoy it !!

Todo fue realmente excelente! Hemos pasado mucho tiempo en Ometepe pero es mi preferido lugar ahora. Es tranquilo, muy amable todos los trabajadores, y las habitaciones están increible comodas. Gracias por todo seguro que vamos a volver!

The owner, Odelba and her family were awesome! So kind and helpful. The place has a great location to do whatever you want to do in Ometepe, very clean, solar energy, great wifi, filtered water, hammocks. All good. We loved it so much that we are staying one more full month!

Property is nice and close to the ferry. The hosts were great and helped us bring the motorbikes off the street for the night. We hiked the volcano in the morning and missed the checkout time but the hosts were still happy for us to spend a bit longer at the property afterwards.

We rent a bike to explore the location, which is conveniently next to the port but far away from noisy overcrowded touristic vipes.. All ecological natural and clean....

The value is amazing - one of the lowest prices we’ve found for a private room with private bathroom in almost 6 months of travelling in Latin America. Our room was clean and spacious, wifi worked well, there is a nice garden, and the location is good. There is a small kitchen which was a nice surprise since it wasn’t listed as an amenity on Booking. Danilo is a great host and speaks English very well. Also used him as a guide up Conception volcano and he was great. It also sounds like he has plans to invest more into the hostel so it will be even better!

We loved the relaxed vibe and how everything is set up and decorated, it's really really beautiful and we enjoyed just sitting around on our porch immensely! the location is great as it's away from the crazy hostel stuff but not too far with tons of great local places near by. Getting to all parts of the island from Balgue was ideal as well and everywhere you turn you see one of the volcanoes since you're right in between them. If you turn right from the place you get back into the main hostel area in a few minutes (on bike) and if you turn left you find really beautiful roadways and scenery and you can get away from all the "traveler" stuff. Cafe compestre is just down the street (2 min walking) where you can get a really really good cappuccino. My boyfriend also got a haircut across the street haha. The food they made us was so so so good (our favorite if we HAD to pick was probably the burritos, and they make some of the best smoothies on the island). we were also able to get our moto bike and kayaking through the family as well, and everything was a really good price and easy. On day 4 or so we found a hole in the tire which they fixed in just a couple hours and they didn't charge us which we really appreciated. There was a power outage one evening (it happens on the island from time to time) and they set us up with a candlelit dinner and we just loved that (picture below). The family who owns this are truly wonderful people and we felt really at home, possibly too at home as we were supposed to stay 5 nights and we stayed 9 or 10 😂. I usually got up early and worked a few hours in the balcony seating area with a coffee or smoothie, so can confirm working here is also no problem. For context, I was working fully online building a webpage with large files so internet needed to be really functioning well, and it was :)

Nos encantó alojarnos en Hostal Bullshark, la habitación estaba muy limpia además de ser muy amplia. La cocina estaba muy bien equipada, con materiales para cocinar nuevos y una nevera muy limpia. Las zonas comunes son perfectas para poder disfrutar del exterior ya que tiene un mirador precioso al volcán. Tatiana nos dio información sobre actividades relacionadas con el entorno. Recomendable realizar el tour de kayak, fue de las mejores experiencias. Volveríamos alojarnos sin duda.

I had an amazing experience in Nena’s Guesthouse! The service was absolutely excellent from start to finish. I want to especially recommend Nena’s motorbike rental service – it was convenient, reliable, and made exploring the area so much easier. Narcy was incredibly kind and helpful throughout my stay, I enjoyed very much. She answered all of my questions with patience and a smile, and truly went above and beyond to make sure I felt welcome. The accommodations were very comfortable and clean, with everything I needed to feel at home. Everybody was friendly! A special thank you to Narcy, who went above and beyond by taking me around the island and making sure I had one of the best days of my entire trip. Her kindness and care truly made a difference — I’ll definitely be coming back!
