This is the second time I get to Takayama and I loved it as the first time and the accommodation was outstanding for me.

The food was delicious and much of it was grown (rice) or made (plum wine) by Ken or Yuki. They provided great recommendations for restaurants and side trips. They ensured we were prepared with all the details required to ensure we had successful adventures. We are so lucky to have we picked the Sakonomichi. It was sugoi!!!

It used to be an elementary school until they closed it a few years ago. It’s all still intact, the blackboards, the gym, etc. A few minutes walk from the main Magome street. The bunk beds were comfortable. The staff was pleasant and friendly. Looking back, I wish I stayed longer than one night.

Our host, Sasaki-san, was also kind to give us an introduction to the place along with offering free icecream, beer and sake! Overall we recommend this place!
