We enjoyed the communal meals immensely and had the best packed lunch of our trip. The meals were home cooked with local ingredients.The host explained the origins of all the dishes and went out of his way to provide a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Miyumi is a great host and speaks English, so we chatted a bit about our Kumano Kodo trail and she gave us some tips. For breakfast she made us some delicious sponge cake to bring with us on our hike!
