Staying at Heitan was a lovely experience allowing a calming and relaxed getaway from Xiamen city. It was lovely to drink tea under the trees in the courtyard and to bask in the atmosphere. The staff at the hotel were also very friendly and helpful, they kindly met us at the pier from where our ferry arrived and helped direct us to the hotel. As it was winter solstice, they also kindly made us delicious tang yuan to celebrate.

It’s well located, but the numbering on Bishan road is all over the place, so it took us a while to find it. Once we got there, the environment is tranquil and the view of the 3rd level is stunning. The breakfast is extremely good. Home cooked congee with fresh fruit.

The best part was probably our experience with 吴琳 （Vinnie). After checking out, we waited at the waiting area and 吴琳 kindly approached us for assistance. We got an upgrade to a seaview room which was really lovely. The room was big, hygienic, modern and the bed was really comfortable. There was a hottub and good shower present. The breakfast was very good and the biggest spread i've ever seen in a hotel (both asian and western). We also made use of the pool, which was big and warm enough.

Sea view room had excellent views towards Gulangyu, with information of the monuments you can see, as well as some paper and coloured pencils to draw. The decoration is quirky and fun, making reference to the culture and history of Xiamen. Location is very good, close to Zhongshan Rd and short taxi drive to Nanputuo and Xiamen Uni. The hotel receptionist, Lydia Li (guest service manager), was extremely nice and helpful, aiding us to book a tour to the Nanjing Tulou, and was very attentive as well during our stay.

The hotel is superb. Few days before check in, housekeeper Wendy emailed to ask if I am celebrating any events. I just replied casually that it’s our wedding anniversary and viola!At check in, there was a bouquet of roses n balloons in the room. V pleasant experience.
