Our rooms are designed with traditional Japanese aesthetics, featuring tatami mat flooring throughout. For those who prefer a futon on tatami or a bed, we also offer Japanese-Western style rooms. The warm ambiance is further enhanced by local artists' paintings adorning the walls. From you enter the reception you are met with a beautiful traditional Japanese interier, it is very well done. Everyone there were very polite and respectful, from staff to other guests. We three women arrived around 16, were able to select a cute yukata each we wore as much as possible for our one night stay, and were shown our room which were as big as a small apartment. We choose to go directly to the onsen which had just opened for the afternoon and had the place for ourselves. Very well stocked with brushes, hairties, lotions, everything free to use! the rooms were nice and comfortable, there was a beautiful tea set for us to use so we had a tea party in our yukatas, before dinner. We had paid for the dinner which was serving after serving of small dishes and a particularly tasty hida beef with miso dish. The beds and shower were great, nothing to complain about there, we had the traditional breakfast the day after with a self serve bar of drinks such as tea, coffee, juice and milk. Oh and we also went down to the onsen before breakfast and were once again alone to relax and take our time. It was probably the most expensive stay we have included on our trip but it was also by far the best experience we have had, and can recommend anyone to try it even just for a night like us, if not more ☺️

Just a 2-minute walk from Takayama Station, Oyado Koto No Yume offers Japanese-style rooms with a colourful touch. The hotel features hot-spring baths, a restaurant serving breakfast and free WiFi throughout the property. This ryokan is introduced in Michelin Green Guide Japan. Everything was simply perfect. The staff were amazing and extremely friendly! The rooms are spacious and while a bit dated, they are clean and very cozy. Being able to book a private hot bath was also very welcome. It is only a few minutes away from the Train/Bus station, but as soon as you enter the domain of the hotel, it feels as if you step from the city straight into an Onsen town. Unfortunately we only stayed for one night.

Free WiFi is available at the lobby and guestrooms. This hotel was selected as one of the Top 25 B&Bs and Inns in Japan by TripAdvisor's Travelers' Choice Award 2015. An incredible location, nearby all the most important attractions, with a great view to Miyagawa river. Although it is shared bathroom, it feels very private and calm. The family that owns the ryokan is friendly, thoughtful and welcoming.

Located in the centre of Takayama Historic District, Ryokan Tanabe 旅館田邊 is one of the most historical ryokans in the city. It features Japanese-style rooms and free WiFi in all areas. Guests can request relaxing massage treatments or soak in the indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths, which are made of rocks and cypress wood. Everything! This was the most beautiful ryokan with wonderful staff who were welcoming and attentive throughout our stay. We had breakfast and dinner in our room and they were both superb - beautifully presented, exceptional tastes and served gracefully by the staff. A true delight! The amenities were comfortable and the onsen beautiful with both indoor and outdoor baths. The hospitality of Ryokan Tanabe is exceptional - if you are looking for a great ryokan experience I highly recommend staying here.

Designed by Shinji Kagawa, the stylish AKARI et KAORI formerly Taizanso is a 10-minute drive from Shuzenji Train Station. Boasting open-air hot-spring baths and in-room meals, it offers Japanese rooms with traditional futon beds. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. We were the only ones at the ryokan because it was off season so we had the entire onsen to ourselves. Food was also very good

Located a 5-minute walk from JR Nagoya Train Station, The Royal Park Canvas Nagoya offers free WiFi throughout the property and a high level of security.

At The Royal Park Canvas Nagoya, guests can relax in the public baths or use the designated smoking area. Luggage storage is available at the front desk. Good Location, just few mins walk to JR Station, easy go and from airport. Clean Room, toilet is not plastic toilet and bigger than i expected. Free coffee can take away at 0700-2400. Nice and polite staff, they have smile all the time.

Just 40 metres from restored Edo-era post town Magome-Juku, Chaya Hotel has simple traditional rooms with futon bedding and a tatami-mat floor. It has a hot public bath, and Japanese meals are available for a fee. The location was excellent. The dinner was a highlight of my trip.

Hida Takayama Hodakaso Yamano Iori is just a 3-minute walk from JR Takayama Train Station and a 10-minute walk from Old Town and Takayama Jinya and Miyagawa Morning Market. The hotel is located in the center of Takayama city, and there are many restaurants around. The Japanese-style accommodation offers spacious public baths. No meals are provided, but bread and soup are provided as light meals in the room. Free parking is provided on site. Everything was fantastic. Stuff didn't speak much english but we could communicate really well. Everything was written and easy to understand. The atmosphere was wonderful. It's a traditional building with a bit old equipment but very well kept. It just added to the experience. Location was really close to everything.We would spend more nights here if we knew what great experience we will get.

JR Takayama Station is located a 3-minute walk away. One of our favourite places to stay at! We loved how simple the room was and the bed was such a dream to sleep on. It was an easy walk to many great food places nearby and everyone was very nice. The private onsen and free ramen at night was the highlight of it all. Will definitely come back again!
