Our rooms are designed with traditional Japanese aesthetics, featuring tatami mat flooring throughout. For those who prefer a futon on tatami or a bed, we also offer Japanese-Western style rooms. The warm ambiance is further enhanced by local artists' paintings adorning the walls. We went as a group and we loved the ryokan. It was very spacious, everything was very clean, and it was conveniently located near the bus station, the train station, and the city center where most of the shopping takes place. The rooms were the most spacious we stayed in throughout Japan, and the staff were all very kind. I would definitely stay here again.

Free WiFi is available at the lobby and guestrooms. This hotel was selected as one of the Top 25 B&Bs and Inns in Japan by TripAdvisor's Travelers' Choice Award 2015. The staff are very welcoming and courteous. Breakfast and dinner were excellent. Accommodation is very comfortable and close to the train/bus station and surrounding attractions.

Located in the centre of Takayama Historic District, Ryokan Tanabe 旅館田邊 is one of the most historical ryokans in the city. It features Japanese-style rooms and free WiFi in all areas. Guests can request relaxing massage treatments or soak in the indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths, which are made of rocks and cypress wood. This was a true authentic ryokan experience. Lovely staff, perfect location and delicious dinner two nights. We slept well on double futons and enjoyed the Onsen ( sitting outside in a warm tub while it was raining was so relaxing!) We will come again if we return to Takayama!

Authentic Japanese set meals are served for breakfast and dinner. the experience of a Japanese dinner and breakfast was awesome. The staff was incredible and could not have done a better job with the breakfast and dinner. The owner of the property was amazing, she went out of her way to get us our bus schedule and tickets to Shiranawa and Takayama, she took me to the bus station to buy the tickets and pay for the taxi on our return to the hotel, she could not have done a better service. our party of four was very impressed with our stay on October 16th to the 17th.

Just 40 metres from restored Edo-era post town Magome-Juku, Chaya Hotel has simple traditional rooms with futon bedding and a tatami-mat floor. It has a hot public bath, and Japanese meals are available for a fee. I loved the atmosphere in Magome Chaya, it is traditional, and I enjoy the futon beds which can feel a bit hard for someone prefering soft matrasses. We had a lovely view from our room overlooking the mountains. The day we were in Magome was very warm but inside it was cool and pleasant. We additionally ordered food ( breakfast and dinner) in vegetarian option which was delicious. Host was very friendly and helpful

Hida Takayama Hodakaso Yamano Iori is just a 3-minute walk from JR Takayama Train Station and a 10-minute walk from Old Town and Takayama Jinya and Miyagawa Morning Market. The hotel is located in the center of Takayama city, and there are many restaurants around. The Japanese-style accommodation offers spacious public baths. No meals are provided, but bread and soup are provided as light meals in the room. Free parking is provided on site. Great room space, nice location

It boasts a rooftop open-air natural hot-spring bath, cosy family baths and a hearty homemade breakfast buffet. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. JR Takayama Station is located a 3-minute walk away. The hotel is very close to the train station so that was super convenient for us because we are heavy packers. Very friendly and helpful staff. We loved that onsen, we loved the breakfast and the free ramen in the evening. Everything was perfect.

This is a family owned hotel The staff is very nice and management helped us book restaurants ahead of time which none of the other upscale hotels in Kyoto Hiroshima or else were willing to do Highly recommend the place for quality of service even if the rooms are smaller than usual but so well organized that we could fit in with our 3 suitcases
