Offering an outdoor pool and a restaurant, Tifakara Boutique Hotel is located just outside Arenal Volcano National Park in Fortuna where you can enjoy stunning volcanic views. Everything was perfect. The hotel is absolutely stunning, beautifully renovated. The pool and hot tub area is great with the morning sun. Big plus : super friendly staff.

El Hotel El Silencio del Campo, situado a 6 minutos de Fortuna, dispone de piscina al aire libre, relajantes aguas termales volcánicas y un restaurante. Además, hay conexión WiFi gratuita. It was the best hotel during my entire trip. Some improvements and comments (see below) did not affect the overall rating and I would gladly stay there again. I loved the nature around the hotel which is well taken care of, you can clearly see great work of gardener. Also, taking care of animals (e.g. feeding birds) is a nice practice. The views to the volcano are amazing. Hot springs were the highlights of my staying - clear and warm water surrounded by lush green nature and flowers. I do not know if the hotel was full or not but there were always plenty of sun beds and spots in the hot springs. People also seem to respect the place as there is no noise. The lady who worked at the bar was extremely nice and helpful and she made the best cocktails (not sure the name Maya, or Maria?). She also helped me to spot the sloth near by. You could clearly see she enjoyed her work. The room was very spacious and clean with all required amenities. Extra point for availability of repellent. The staff at the reception and restaurant was very friendly and helpful. As a customer you get a nice gift - a hotel bag. I can definitely recommend Hotel El Silencio del Campo.

Contando con vista al jardín, Pura Vida Hotel en Alajuela cuenta con hospedaje, un jardín, un salón compartido, una terraza y un restaurante. Great place to stay after a long journey, travelling from the UK. We arrived very late but were warmly welcomed. In the morning we had a lovely breakfast in the beautiful garden. Thoroughly recommend, especially if you're looking for peace and quiet not too far from the airport. Extra bonus: our car hire company (Wild Rider) delivered to Pura Vida, making for a very easy departure.

El Lost Iguana Resort and Spa cuenta con piscina al aire libre, gimnasio y exuberantes jardines con un laberinto. Las habitaciones tienen vistas al volcán Arenal, situado a solo 25 minutos en coche. View was wonderful, room was spacious and clean. Food was good.

When we arrived I saw one of the most breath taking views ever. The volcano is so close and makes a crazy impression. I could just stare at it. I wish we could stay longer. Such a peaceful and calm environment, breath taking view on the volcano, well maintained gardens, fantastic pool. So much wildlife- we could hear hundreds of birds all the time. I recommend visiting nearby restaurants as there are so many just a few minutes away. The only thing I didn’t like was a dinner at the hotel restaurant- it was expensive and really not too tasty. Very „Americanized” menu. I would rather have something local and simple. Breakfasts were wonderful though.

Offering an outdoor pool, Hotel La Guaria Inn & Suites is located in Alajuela, just a 5-minute drive from Juan Santamaría International Airport. Fab location in Alajuela. Easy walk from bus station and to central plaza and market. And great restaurants in this town. Easy to book tours from here. The pool is lovely and there are several seating areas around the pool. As a solo traveller, I was happy to meet other travellers while at the pool.
