Location, lovely village just outside of Whitby with a 30 minute walk along the river into Whitby. Property was designed/decorated to a very high standard with everything required for a special few days away. Jackson’s butchers next door…amazing breakfast sandwiches made the holiday so hassle free for breakfast

The location, the layout, and the cleanliness of the property. The cottage was very cosy and close to the centre of Whitby literally a 2 minute walk. We couldn't thank Courtney and Wendy enough, very clear instructions and nothing was too much trouble, every question we had was answered within a couple of minutes, we have booked to go again already

The cottage was so lovely,comfortable,clean,in an ideal location at the side of the 199 steps.Has beautiful views over the harbour wall out to sea from the bedroom window and is quite entertaining seeing people going up the steps outside up to the church and abbey.I would point out that it does get busy with people up and down the steps but that didn’t bother us and also wouldn’t be suitable for people with limited ability or disabled because of the sloping cobbled road outside.It was tricky for us trying to navigate up the steps and scoot across to the front step more so with the cases but that’s the way the building is situated and can’t be helped. The steps on it at the side of the 199 steps leading upto it and inside the stairs were steep to the bedrooms.so hence why I mention for people with limited ability would struggle. We loved everything about the cottage we didn’t want to leave and come home.It is very quiet in a prime location close to pubs,shops and restaurants. This is not anything to dis the cottage but there was no close shops for food shopping(milk and bread breakfast items) other than take out the nearest food shopping for amenities is at the heron shop on Baxter street or coop over the other side of the bridge a bit of a walk away to carry back.There is plenty of information also in regards how to go about doing things but there is no iron or ironing board there.The one thing I thought was lovely but we didn’t use is the building supplying a free parking permit for the days your there. But our stay was wonderful,well stocked kitchen,comfy bed clean and we loved everything about it during our stay and would most definitely stay there again. There was nothing we didn’t dislike and would highly recommend.Just want to thank you Sykes cottages for everything you did for us and supplied during our stay.

    Loved the layout from inside to the fantastic garden with amazing views. It was lovely walking into a cosy warm cottage as it was really cold outside when we arrived. Hot tub was really relaxing. Comfy beds . You are given plenty of towels, tea, coffee ect. The kitchen is equipped with everything you may need, it even has a bbq. The garden is great with wonderful views from the upper decked seating area.
