The tour was outstanding (by the owner)of the Anglo Boer battle sites. The location is perfect at Spionkop. The charming rooms could do with some aircon and bathrooms could do with modernisation but this shouldnt put off anyone from experiencing the Lodge. The Drakensberg is and always will be an amazing holiday venue. Lots to do and plenty of places to eat. Scrumpy Jacks is overrated and I would skip this venue and rather go to The Valley Bakery for either a breakfast, lunch or snack - freshly baked and good value for money. The Dragons restaurant at Dragons Peak was our best meal of the trip and the menu is varied and well priced. Lots of stunning hikes all around and plenty of places of interest to visit. Quad bikes, Scoot Tours, Canopy tours, Bird of Prey centre, Reptile centre, ceramic, candle & carpet weavers and the list goes on.Guest review byHelenSouth Africa - 10.0

We enjoyed a beautiful hike and visited the Hotel, all of which is within walking distance. Directions to the property and instructions for keys etc. were clear. The house was well-kept and clean and had everything we needed. The welcoming 'gifts' were an extra special touch - we loved the wine and chocolate. The executive suite was gorgeous and had a phenomenal view. Although the interior of the hotel itself is dated, it is more than made up for by the friendly staff.
