South Lake Tahoe has made up for its relatively short history by rapidly developing into America’s all-year playground. Not far from North America’s largest alpine lake is Heavenly Ski Resort that features an abundance of world-class ski runs all serviced by a large number of quality ski lifts. The runs provide something for everyone from beginners to the more experienced, and snowboarders to cross-country skiers.
The astonishing wilderness that surrounds South Lake Tahoe can be explored on mountain bike or by boat. Emerald Bay is particularly impressive with the magnificent Vikingsholm castle hidden amongst the pine-infested hills.

I like staying in South Tahoe for a lot of the hiking and places to visit and eat...however, I would probably never go during this holiday weekend ever again; it was too busy too crowded and too noisy but usually it's a really fun place to go to . very pretty, weather was great, beaches was perfect for what i wanted, and even was able to do a little swimming in the lake. i went to pope beach and was $12 for entry, was well worth it. tried to get to a couple other beaches and it was super hard to find parking. pope beach was great and was able to get to the beach right from my parking spot. went to a couple outlets and people was really nice. traffic was not bad, even though there was allot of road work going on. bring your own beach needs because it is expensive at the stores to buy. love the big 5.Guest review byCJUnited States - 6.0

South Lake Tahoe is a happening place with a LOT of people roaming a small area. If you like gambling, clubbing, walking the strip, going to beaches w/ lots of people, etc...you will love this place. Beautiful trails in the forest. Bi State Park was gorgeous! Free bird Chai is a must if you love tea! The views are like a painting. Hell's kitchen inside Caesar's was awesome, got in without a reservation, last minute ! The roads are winding so bring Dramamine if sensitive. Insomnia Cookies didn't disappoint!
