The staff was extremely nice and helpful. They went an extra mile to make us happy. The helped book train tickets to Bon Jesus, offered us coffee before breakfast was available, kept our backpacks when we took side trip. Room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is very close to the old town and good restaurants. Perfect place to stay.

Really loved my hotel room and top 10 in the world for my experience with extensive world travel. Definately exceptional design blend of original old stone with clean contemporary lines, fixtures and comfort. My room overlooking medieval courtyard with fountain and lovely shops theater and restaurants. Hotel building attached to lovely Historaal caffe with excellent coffee vino and food below. Absolutely charming.

A really nice place to rest and recuperate after a long ride on our bikes. Found a nice cafe nearby to get a great pizza. Philippa was very helpful and kind, and the breakfast was superb.

Wow! Our stay in VILLA 500 were beyond all expectations. We just love the location - in eucalyptus forest, swimming pool, hammocks, room, breakfast and all the privacy that we had. Maria the owner is such a sweet person, extremely helpful and generous! All the stuff is super friendly! Everything is clean and well taken care off. The room is huge, bathroom too. The bed is comfortable. All were just perfect. The best place in Portugal! Thanks to everyone who works there to make our stay so amazing 😊

    A Very nice small city, lots to see and many good dining and shopping opportunities. We were lucky to be there during a festival, which provided non-stop entertainment for our two -day stay. Our favorite place in Portugal so far. (We are not big city people, found Lisboa and Porto vexing - crowds, noise, traffic). Barcelos manages to be interesting and charming without the negatives. Of course, some day it will over-populate and be as obnoxious as the other big cities.

    Barcelos is one of many stunning towns and cities in Portugal, but by far my favorite. It is small enough to walk around, has some excellent old buildings, bridges, etc. Cafes, restaurants all provide excellent service, and the market on Thursdays is awesome to see.

    This town is a car crash! - despite Unesco city of creativity. 1-2 hours plenty to look around the last remaining intact bits of town, apart from visiting on a Thursday when supposedly there is a market going on. So many other places to see in the area! Why waste your time?

    We were there for Dance World Cup finals in Braga so didn't see a lot of Barcelos but surrounding areas very beautiful. Lots of stunning countryside covered in vineyards. Definitely would go back to explore more!

    The city is beautiful and with a lot of monuments and churches to visit. It also had some pretty interesting shops in a central shopping area and some interesting looking restaurants. From traditional to hipster food- you can find everything there. The day I visited, the city had a huge market in the center, street food and entertainment. There were some traditional music concerts, traditional dancing, flower and light decorations all over... Very pretty. I was positively surprised by the mixture of historical and city-like vibes.

    The location is great, right in the center of Barcelos (right on the Camino if you are planning on doing the Camino de Santiago). It is in front of a plaza with other cafes and restaurants and near the main points of interest in the town. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast included son Pasteis de Nata which was a nice touch.

    Beautiful hotel in gorgeous grounds. Room was beautiful with thoughtful design touches and details. Very comfortable bed and good quality bed linen. Super fluffy towels and bathrobes. Great to have outdoor pool and reasonably sized indoor pool. Restaurant was very good.
