It's a beautiful town with an awesome beach.
It's a beautiful town with an awesome beach. It's close to other towns, so you can make day trips to Whitianga, Matamata, Tauranga, Coromandel, Te Puke, etc. We went to an animal farm, had a beach day, and took a train ride. Great central location with easy access to Waihi itself, and area's such as Whiritoa, Whanagamata, Paeroa within easy driving distance. Great Steak at The Sterling pub. We visited Martha's Mine and the Ole Pump House.
We visited Martha's Mine and the Ole Pump House. This is quite cook esp the "Poppy Fence". Apparently, the walk right round the mine is 5kms so have an extra hour for that. Supermarkets were easy to find, likewise the take-aways shops. Lovely small town place.Guest review byMarthaNew Zealand

Her house is in a nice quiet location, and all the facilities were excellent. Perfect place for exploring the Coromandel and Tauranga coastline. Waihi is a lovely place, and the Karangahake Gorge was a cracking day out. Our stay went past way too quickly.
