You should visit Monnickendam in April. The weather was inclement, rainy and cold, when I visited in early March. It's a wonderfully quaint, beautiful and quiet town with lovely architecture, a few shops and eateries and the last thing you'll see is other tourists.Guest review byManeeshksIndia - 10

A beautiful village 20minutes by public transport from the centre of Amsterdam. The location is a quiet village but with plenty of restaurants and snacks available. There is a local supermarket and specialist artisan shops. We ate at most of the restaurants alongside the canal. Harbour suits and Bobs are especially friendly and have good food. As a base for a city break to Amsterdam it is perfect. You are close enough to enjoy the highlights, hustle and bustle of Amsterdam.
