Amsterdam is a friendly, vibrant city with so much history, entertainment and charm. It feels old and new at the same time. We love “slow travel” and while we saw some of the major sites (Anne Frank house, Van Gogh museum, Haarlem) we spent most days walking around the amazing canals and popping into sidewalk and canal-side cafes for drinks and bites and sometimes chatting with the friendly locals and visitors. We stayed at a fabulous property in Houthhaven called The July Boat & Co. and utilized their free bike rentals to get around the city. Amsterdam is the most bike friendly city I have ever seen! It was far easier to get around by bike than by car. The locals can spot the tourists from a mile away and really go out of their way to make you feel welcome. I know that Amsterdam has had a reputation as a place to go to the “coffee shops” for a particular type of tourist, and yes, there are coffee shops everywhere, but if that’s not your style, there are literally hundreds of other more stimulating things to do and enjoy in the city and within a 30 minutes or less by train. Seriously, eat all you want, because you will burn every calorie walking and biking in this beautiful and historic city. I cannot wait to return!

Amsterdam was an excellent experience and we will be definitely coming back in the future. The main goal of our short holidays was to enjoy the cultural attractions from the city and landscape. If we have to indicate two places to anyone going over these must be definitely the "Rijksmuseum" and "Ons' Lieve Heer op Solder (Our Lord in the Attic Museum)". The second been the hidden gem from this trip. A more modern look to art was Stedelijk and MoCo. We loved to walk around the canals specially around "Keizersgracht" neighborhood for the views. Our favorite meal was at "Stamppot Amsterdam" in Spiegelgracht, there is a good bit of restaurants in this area. Best way to locomote in the city for us was the trams and walking.

Amsterdam — a living masterpiece 🎨 This city is pure art. With its countless bridges, stunning canals, and elegant architecture, every corner feels like a painting. The people are kind and laid-back, the atmosphere calm yet full of life. Don’t miss the Central Station, the main square, and the Van Gogh Museum — a must-see for every art lover. Amsterdam truly stole my heart.

I am not sure the I amsterdam card was particularly useful on this short stay. Navigating the city's transport system was tricky and we used a lot of taxis. But Amsterdam is a beautiful, quirky city and such fun! The people are rightly famous for their friendliness and charm. There is so much to see and do it was hard to fit everything in. It needs more than a long weekend.

I fell in love with this city!

I fell in love with this city! It’s beautiful, it’s like walking inside a Kinkade painting. There’s so much to do, shopping is great, public transportation is excellent, there’s open air markets, museums, restaurants everywhere, night life, art, music, you name it- it’s there. I would return in a heartbeat. I especially like how the locals care about biking or taking public transportation vs. driving. They’re also into conserving water, recycling and general respect for their environment and each other.

I find Amsterdam to be a city of great culture, history and diversity. They take pride in being sustainable and ecological. From their public transportation to the services at the Airport, everything is well catered for an individuals comfort and ease. What I love most is the friendliness and willingness of strangers wishing to help you and even having a conversation with, as well as thier slower pace and attitude to life. Nothing seems rushed here , as is the case of other cities around the World. Definitely one of my favourite cities in Europe.

Hotel is located within a 6 minute walk from the Station Amsterdam Zuid. From there you can the to the city centre (and everywhere else 6 mins to Shiphol Airport and if you‘re there for a show at Ziggo Dome it‘s only a 6 min train ride) in just 10 minutes. There is also a beautiful park near the hotel. Staff was exceptional. You manage everything via the app on your phone or the ipad provided in every room. Food was great as well. 100% recommended staying here.

Staff are really friendly and helpful, we even got a free room upgrade upon arrival! Free tea and coffee is available in reception which is a nice touch. Rooms are comfy, clean and warm when staying in the winter. I stay here whenever I come back to Amsterdam and wouldn't choose anywhere else.

Very good location of the hotel as it is in the city centre. Very easy checking in the hotel. Very vintage vibe and has some creaky wooden floors. We got a 4th floor room so it's a bit of an effort to climb up a few flight of stairs even when using the elevator. Overall, it's a good experience staying in XO hotel. Will definitely stay again if ever we come back to Amsterdam.

Location super, far from noise, but still in city centre, tram station just right in front of the hotel, number 14, goes through city centre all the way to the Amsterdam Centraal Station, so PERFECT!
