Within 2-3 mins drive to UP Kannabe ski resort. Right opposite the hotel is a nice onsen, minimart, and bakery. Large common space on the first floor with pantry, large dining table and many sofa seats. You can heat up your cood, make instant noodle, have meals, with free coffee and tea.

This is a simple business hotel. If you've stayed at one, you've stayed at all of them. It's a no frills room with a good bed, a desk and your private bathroom. It's a place to stay for a few nights and does its job well. The staff were friendly and accommodating. I arrived by bicycle and they arranged for a parking space. I am able to communicate in Japanese, but they had English speaking staff on hand. The area is near other business hotels and some izakaya, so you might bump into some unsavory people outside, but the hotel itself is very quiet.

○ Wow. Probably the nicest ryokan I’ve ever stayed at in Japan. ○ Room was incredibly spacious. Lots of space for walking around, different areas to sit. ○ Futon were very plush and comfortable. ○ The onsen in the ryokan were both amazing, but especially the cave one. Its nice that at night, they are private (no reservations, just need to check until they are open) and then separated by gender in the morning. ○ Breakfast and dinner were both delicious. ○ The chance to wear kimono, especially since you get to pick out the kimono, obi, and jacket. They also have hair clips. Also, the chance to have a tea ceremony after check in. Both these experiences were awesome. ○ On top of the rental yukata, geta, tabi socks, towels, and bag for the onsen, we were also given thick winter jackets to go over the yukata to keep us warm. It made walking around at night during winter much more enjoyable. ○ Also the free onsen pass! One of the many perks of staying at a ryokan. You can use it from check in until 1PM the day of checkout. ○ The owner was so incredibly kind, offering to take photos of us. We ended up walking around for more than half an hour to his favorite spots and getting some amazing shots. ○ Free parking is a bit removed, but that isn’t a big deal since the town is so small. They allowed us to park there from the morning of our stay and drop off our bags so we didn’t need to carry them across town. By the time we came for check in, our bags were in the room already.

I stayed here with a friend while I was visiting Kinosakionsen, Yuko and her family were extremely nice and welcoming! The house was beautiful, homely and had everything we needed, it was exactly as the name implied. The town and surrounding area are a must to see in Japan and if and when I return, I will definitely stay again! It's slightly further from the town center, so it's perfect for cycling and sightseeing, I recommend to anyone visiting Kinosakionsen!

Kinosaki onsen is a charming small town.

Kinosaki onsen is a charming small town. Most of the tourists were Japanese who come to the hot springs. Most people are dressed in traditional yukatas and walk around the town in them and wooden sandals. We also took a short train ride to Takeno Beach a beautiful beach on the sea of Japan.

Wonderful place to stay for a few nights away from the hustle and bustle of Osaka and Kyoto. Kinosaki Onsen is absolutely charming and beautiful, and I strongly recommend renting a bike to cycle up north to the Kinosaki Marine World; the views along the coastline are breathtaking.

    We enjoyed the small town.

We enjoyed the small town. It was quaint and quiet, but still had plenty to do. We visited many shops and restaurants at Kinosaki Onsen as well as visited a few of the onsen. I don't know where Toyooka stops and Kinosaki starts, so I am combining them as the say destination. We had a wonderful time!

Dinning options were limited especially if you have food allergies however the hotel did accommodate. Not many restaurant options in town as many close during the week. Very cute town and loved wearing the Yakuta around town. Sadly I didn’t try the public Onsens but the hotel had a private Onsen which was very nice to rent.

a great town to visit, so much more than just the tourist sites, the history there is rich and I found some pleasant walks in the hills also. Really great food options and of course the thermal waters of the Onsens! Probably best visited during the week and not in the peak months. Thursday most of the town shuts down, but the onsens do remain open.

Kinosaki-onsen is a lovely rural hot spring town with six delightful public baths. I also found at least two free public foot baths. To add to the relaxed and picturesque vibe, guests wear the yukata from their ryokan while strolling about. The entire town is walkable from one end to the other. The ropeway cable car is worth taking not only for the view from the top of the mountain but also for the ancient temple at the half-way stop.

The hotel staff were very attentive even helped to ensure you wore the provided Yukatas correctly. The room was traditional Japanese style with futon beds. The room was very clean and spacious. The breakfast was superb. Location very convenient for the JR rail station and for walking around the Onsen town. The private onsens at the hotel were wonderful to spend time as a couple.

There is much care into making your stay a homely one by the welcoming host and staff. All facilities are well kept and there is a cosy common area which serves in the evening as a hangout for locals. Toyooka is a quiet area, with possibilities to explore surroundings. Like the beaches, natural parks and ofcourse the onsens of Kinosaki.
