Only spent one day at the end of our trip which was enough to basically shop and wander the historical area which I think is the main attraction anyway. Beautiful, scenic, clean, historic. And we loved Yoshii Ryokan in the heart of it all. Definitely worth a visit.

Beautfiul. A glimpse of times gone by. Old buildings, quiet streets lit by lanterns at night. Very good restaurants. The canal was lovely to look at. Very good shops, all generally selling products of high quality.

We timed our trip to co inside with the festival of lights and so pleased we got to experience the first night of the light festival before we moved on. Absolutely beautiful in the bikan historic district wandering along the canals with so much to see. Easy city to navigate with lots of great eateries.

Kurashiki is a beautiful, well preserved old town, much like Kyoto but without the crowds of tourists. The Folk Art Museum and the Kyosai Museum are particular highlights. If you're interested in Japanese history and culture, and don't want to be swamped with other tourists, I can't recommend Kurashiki enough.

Kurashiki is a great town, especially the old quarter. We stayed several nights but also did day trips from our accommodation. It was great to come back to Kurashiki at the end of the day. There is a train station right there to do day trips, a great shopping mall, as well as the stores in the old town.

    We loved Kurashiki.

We loved Kurashiki. The historical quarter is so pretty with the gorgeous canal and its boats, along with the streets of former rice storehouses. The old town is quick and easy to navigate and there is so much to do! We also loved exploring the shops and enjoyed a delicious meal of Bukkake udon, a local specialty. Would highly recommend a visit here. Note: The Momotaru “Peach Boy” Folk Museum was great for our 10 year old daughter and fun for us too!!

Set within a former kimono merchant’s home in Kurashiki’s stunning historical quarter, Yoruya offers a private and quietly luxurious stay. The team behind this ryokan preserved the building’s century-old structure while introducing clean lines, soft textures, and a sense of modern calm. With just a few rooms, an intimate dining experience, and crafted details throughout, it feels more like a private retreat than a hotel. Something that will linger with you for a long time.

Rooms were great. There is a pool table at the bottom. The public bath was fantastic. I wish I could remember one of the songs that played in the bath. The hotel is in the best location ever. If you stay 3 nights I recommend taking the cheap train (or driving) to Okayama for a day too. After travelling the places in Kurashiki for 2 days we saw most of what there was. Note that the restaurants in the area are all absolutely packed at night and require reservations.

It was an absolutely unique experience to stay in an old traditional japanese house /all japanese art included, kimono, swords, furniture, games/ hosted by well educated Hideo very nice gentleman, who showed us around the house, also prepared us a cup of tea in traditional way, and we chatted about everything. Recommended to everyone who is tired of anonymous hotels and likes to meet local people.

The bedrooms are fairly comfortable, with amenities provided, a mini fridge and a TV. The hotel is walking distance from Kurashiki Station, and also walkable to Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter. There is also a Marunaka Supermarket across the road from the hotel, which was very helpful to us in terms of getting affordable food and drinks.

The hotel is in a prime Kurashiki location, very comfortable, with a good breakfast. Nearby parking is available, and there’s an onsen. It offers all the necessary amenities, including complimentary bottled water.
