It has many places to visit. Of all, we love going up to Mt Omuro enjoying the view and walking round the crater. Jogasaki Coast which has great view of the rock formation. Izu is a wonderful varied destination with great food ,beaches and outdoor things to do ,It is a good place to go when you need a break from thee heat and crowds of summer in Japan.I very much recommend visiting Terrace Orange in Toi..It's a unique building built as both a tsunami refuge and community center with a lovely cafe and a restaurant with some of the freshest and nicest food on our trip .The architecture is fabulous and there is even a footbath acing the sea.Guest review byMichelleNew Zealand - 10.0

There is a more to explore here than we realized. Apart from hiking up hills for great views, we did not budget enough time for more sight-seeing. We had wanted to visit a wasabi farm but wound up at a wasabi market which was really cool with lots of wasabi based products - that was an experience in itself. It was a lovely small town, a welcome change from busy cities crowded with tourists. Very relaxing, beautiful hot springs in the middle of town, a charming temple and shrine surrounded by huge cedar trees. We stayed twi nights and really enjoyed it. From Shuzenji station you can take bus to a viewing area where if the weather conditions are right you can view Mt Fuji.Guest review byCynthia

Staff were very friendly, and we were able to easily book private/family Onsen during our stay without a wait, which we appreciated a lot as we aren’t big planners! It was very peaceful and clean. I enjoyed being able to hear the sound of crickets and being able to go onto the balcony of our room. It was a short walk to the seaside and felt like a very safe area. Beautiful, traditional architecture (apparently in place since 1872!), in lush greenery, set on natural thermal baths (you bathe in so called onsens, in natural warm water). Stay includes preset breakfast and dinner menus, which are Michelin quality and would cost you 100s $ in Europe or America. So value for money is great too, even if the sticker price may seem high. I travel a lot in Japan and I have been to many ryokan but this one is my favourite! The first time I was here in January, it was cold but the kotatsu on the riverside was just perfect. This time it was summer, but it was not too hot. Both dinner and breakfast are insanely good and the private onsen (included in the price) are so relaxing. The room is clean, so relaxing. We had 2 tatami rooms for each couple. Each room can stay 4 or more person. The mountains view & traditional Japanese houses from our balcony were amazing.
